This is solely based off the bakery. Want to feel like a burden? Or that their mistake is frustrating and your fault? And if you would like the absolute thinnest filling….. Go to this bakery. This is not my first bad experience but that was 4 years ago and I had stopped getting my cakes here until this last week when my daughter saw the beautiful donut and ice cream cone cakes. Seeing the new designs and precision on them along with my daughter’s excitement we went ahead and ordered her birthday cake. The lady who placed our order was super nice. I explained we wanted the exact design of the donut cake but just to change the drip icing to bright pink (instead of white), the base layer to teal (instead of light blue) and where all the white rosettes were to bright pink. She wrote this all down along with taking a photo herself of the cake. The morning of 45 minutes before my cake is supposed to be ready I receive a phone call stating the lady is on vacation and they don’t have the photo. No problem I just explain again what we want and thought the employee understood. I then get another phone call asking if I want the donuts. Again I explain we want the donut cake just different colors. Upon arrival I look at the cake and it’s all wrong. Although the colors are right, it’s not the donut cake design. Instead it has huge pink blobs on top and the pink drip icing looks horrible and hardly goes down the cake. When I tell the employee that this is not the cake there are no rosettes at all and what even the paper reads she cops an attitude with me and tells me they are not supposed to even take photos I should have brought one in. This is an H‑E‑B designed cake not my own or on a website. And the employee took the photo I did not ask. When I then asked if they could at least put rosettes on the front she looked at me made a rude sound and said she needed at least 10 Minutes to mix new colors. I was fine with that. We went shopping, came back, and the rosettes on the front looked horrible. You could tell she was not happy when she did it and thus her work reflected in it. I honestly could have done better rosettes than this. Our cake was just left sitting by the pick up area when we got there and no one said anything to us when we picked it up. This is by far not what I would EVER expect from this H‑E‑B any where else in the store. I will NEVER be returning here again for my bakery items. Costco is not only cheaper, but has much better cakes, and even though they cannot do too many designs, I don’t mind taking the cake home and putting on some designs myself. It’s sad because I’m a frequent at least once a week every Friday shopper and we including my kiddos love going inside...
Read moreLast week I went to get a cake from this H-E-B we approached a young man in Bakery and picked a cake. And told him to write something for my nephew's graduation. We wrote it on a piece of paper for him so that he can have it correct spelling on the cake it was a congratulation to him and a word in Spanish that he commonly says. When the young man was about to write the message the bakery manager by the name of Jacob explain that what we wanted was profanity. We then explain to him that that is a quote that he says keep in mind that the wording is in Spanish. He took it upon himself to feel like it was an insulting word but knowing so for sure that Jacob is nowhere near Hispanic or Latin to know that the meaning behind it the word in English was THE HELL WITH IT... We are customers and we are the ones paying for what we're asking the employees to do. He took it upon himself to not fulfill what the customer was asking of them to do. We then spoke to the store manager and explain to them what was taken place. They then call Jacob and another employee who speak Spanish to explain to the store manager what was the wording in Spanish. All latin or spanish isnt the same nor does it mean the same thing in different parts of latin America. But to them it was bad. They then went into details of store policy which we care last for don't assume something if you don't know the meaning behind it or Spanish is not your first language not only that but what if the lettering or the wording would have been in German or in another foreign language would he then know what that meant absolutely Not so we decided to just leave it alone not proceed with making it such a big deal. I took my business elsewhere and went to another H-E-B location and had them fulfill my needs as a customer. And bought the cake with what I exactly asked for them to write.....
Read moreEvery HEB I've ever visited has been a 4 or 5. Even this 1. Yesterday's visit was destroyed by an asset. Mgr. Bakhshal. I don’t understand how he even works there much less, be a Mgr. He was rude, condescending, arrogant, just generally horrible. He ignored my request to slow down scanning when I told him things were ringing incorrectly, talked over me when I was trying to speak. Refused to do what was necessary PROPERLY complete my purchase. Instead took off all items possibly in question, called Emily, from dept. of items in question (who was A-MAZ-ING) & handed me off to her. She investigated the items price & STARTED to return me to his line. I said that I'd prefer someone else, that I couldn't deal w/him. She did, but then he came over to micro-manage. I politely asked (b/c I'm not trying to go to jail) him to remove himself from the transaction. He just kept saying "I apologize " then proceeded to want an explanation on every item. Finally.....JUST as I had my total & was pulling out $$, he pulls checker (the other asst mgr.) aside & quietly consults w/her. Then the register screen goes blank, she signs out & walks away as I'm standing there dumbfounded. Another checker signed on and we start ALL OVER!! The nice Emily stayed thru the whole LONG process like a compassion coach!!! She said that Mr Meany had sent the other asst. Mgr. To gas pumps for an emergency. She profusely apologized for his behavior. It appears that this wasn't the 1st episode of his behavior but she covered quite eloquently, not condoning yet not speaking I'll of her supervisor. What a champ!! By the time it was over, this event probably stole 30 minutes of life, that left me physically ill & shaking, ruining the remainder of the evening.
