Long story short.... we were kicked out of a theater for being "20 minutes late" (which is false) and treated very rudely by the manager.
Long story long.....
My husband and I were going to enjoy one of our first date nights since our daughter was born. I was really looking forward to sitting in a dark room for a couple of hours without a teething baby screaming at me.
We bought tickets for our showing earlier in the day, but hit a bit more traffic than usual on the way to the theater and the parking was horrible. My husband is on crutches and there weren't any close handicap parking spots available, so we had to park a ways away and walk in the crazy July heat. We arrived a few minutes after the show time (maybe 10?) but we did arrive before the movie actually started. In fact, we had enough time to get situated in our seats, read the menu, write down our orders and then sit to relax for a bit before the movie even started. About 5 minutes after we did, a man approached us and asked if we could talk outside for a bit. It actually made me a bit nervous because he was a bigger guy (well over 6 feet) and the only thing he had to identify himself as an employe was a head set. No uniform or name tag.
He informed us that his server told him we were more than 20 minutes late and that he'd have to ask us to leave but would give us a refund. I told him that we weren't late and he replied "well, my server said you were". I get my husband and we head to the front to get our refund. When my husband asked why we were being kicked out and the reasoning behind this policy, he said "to reduce distractions and make a better viewing experience".
Um. There were literally 4 other people in the theater, we walked in front of not one person as we were seated on the end closest to the entrance, and we arrived before the movie began. The manager made more of a scene by coming in after the movie began to ask us to leave. I was so surprised by the entire situation I hardly said anything besides looking at him with an "are you kidding me right now" look on my face.
I cannot find any information about this "20 minute" policy on their website. If it really is their rule, we should have been stopped by the girl who printed our tickets and told us to enjoy the show. She should have offered a refund or another show time then and there.
I'm amazed that they would rather go to these lengths to remove someone who is quietly enjoying a movie (with our phones turned off, thank you) than to keep our money. I suspect a lazy server that didn't want to wait on 2 more people. A server who also missed out on a good tip. With so many competitors popping up near by (Studio Movie Grill, Movie Tavern, and now Willowbrook AMC that has been remodeled with leather recliners in place of traditional seats plus a full bar), I would think Alamo would be stepping up their customer service game a bit.
Overall, it was a humiliating and disappointing experience. Needless to say, we will...
Read moreI went to this theater with my friends for my birthday. The foods are good, servers are nice, atmosphere is quite comfortable. The recycler chairs are old and been worn off a lot. However, I would have rate for more stars if it not happened that I forgot my small wallet at my chair. It was yesterday the last show of theater 7 Jurassic Word movie. After paying for my bill and I left the wallet by my side, didn’t put it back to my bag since I was focus on the movie, big mistake. And when the movie is ended, I just grabbed my bag and left. I didn’t find out until this morning after, I called many times but unable to reach them since they didn’t open yet. My sister called for me as well and she was able to have someone answer her, Naomi is her name she said. She asked us to hold the phone and she went look for it. A bit later she came back and Told us that she found it, I felt so blessed and rush there to pick up my wallet. 30 mins later after that phone call, I came to the theater. When I got there, she gave me my wallet, I was so thankful, I looked through it quick, first thing I found out that the cash I have in my wallet…it’s gone. I looked at the young lady’s face and eyes while reaching all the credits cards and so in my wallet… and I asked is that all you Gave me, she said yes. At that time I kinda didn’t know what to do, I didn’t l want to confront her since I was kinda thank you for her to help me look for my wallet. She was young, as my daughter age, so i just said thank you and walked out. It’s about $150 cash in my wallet. I am not sure what to say since I wonder should I asked her about my cash is gone. I don’t know how many people have touch a wallet since it’s the last show last night, and Naomi said that she found it at the side on the chair. I felt lucky at first to have my wallet found but also upset why the cash is gone just like that. $150 is not that big deal to confront a young girl who might try to work hard for her job, her life. So I decided to not confront or ask. That’s my experience, it was my fault to forget a wallet. Thanks God that my wallet had found but My cash is gone now and I will have to change all my debit cards and credit...
Read moreLivid. So tonight was the first night ive gone out to the movies in 6 years. No joke. First time my daughter has ever been to the movie theater. Went and saw Toy Story 4. We came in and sat down and not one person out of 4 servers came to check on us. I finally realized we were supposed to push a button. I was not told by anyone that's what you were supposed to do. Still no one came. I went out of the theater and flagged down the 3 server who passed by me bc the first two said nothing. Mind you, I was standing there looking mad with my menu in hand. At this point the movie is starting. Finally got some food and drinks but they didnt bring the pizza we ordered. My husband told me to be patient maybe its on the way. Both of us have worked in all positions of a restaurant for over 10 years each and understand, but after a while, I pushed the button to ask. The server went to check on it and came back and informed me that they are making me another because they took mine somewhere else. Finally got my pizza close to the end of the movie. When I got the check, the pizza was on there. I asked the server if there was anything they could do and she said she would ask the manager. Another girl brought me my ticket back and my card was ran. Pizza and all. She said since I ate it (2 slices) I have to pay for it. Obviously I didnt have time to finish it so i asked for a box. I asked for a box from TWO people. I waited there until I was literally the last person in there. My husband told me to just leave it. I was furious. I will not leave pretty much a whole pizza that I paid for and asked for a box for. I raised my voice and the second girl i asked was walking past the door and came back into the theater and handed me a box from the station by the door. She walked passed the door when she heard me and remembered... I boxxed my stuff and left. $50 for the tickets and $80 for food. I WILL NOT BE BACK!! so much for trying to have a nice family outting. The movie was...
