Unhappy client, bad experience. I brought my mom here since she loves the shrimp and grits and it was our first time here in years. We will not be coming back.
Grace was our server outside, it was apparent that she was the only server assigned to the patio area and that is not right. I’m not sure if they were understaffed. Her being the only server means that the wait for service was longer than usual for everyone. When we sat down we noticed there was another table that was empty outside as well so we asked if we could switch to that table. Grace said yes. We moved to that table and did not realize the table was dirty. We sat down and waited for the table to be cleaned. We waited about 15 min and nothing Grace took our drink orders and did not mention anything about the table being cleaned soon. She did not have the courtesy to say oh due to how busy we are there is a delay etc. she did not acknowledge the dirty table. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned when she took our food order. Our food came after about 25min and as we were eating my mom noticed there was a hair in her food. We lost our appetite. We waved our hand to Grace and let her know we found a hair and all she said was “Ok I will be right back” and took the plate. She came back and said that “The kitchen is remaking it” my mom said we don’t want it anymore. And she said “oh ok” and we then asked for the check. It was a horrible experience for her not to have the courtesy to say I’m sorry for this experience or to ASK would you like us to remake it? Or ask if we would prefer a refund. She gave us the receipt as if nothing happened and we noticed the food was removed, this was nice but we would’ve appreciated her to put herself in our situation to show some understanding. We understand how difficult it can be to help so many tables ALONE with no help other than bussers & staff bringing the food. One person is not enough for the full patio so I do hope this staffing or management changes this. So their staff can be happier and nicer to their clients! Customer service is everything internally to employees & externally to your clients. I would not recommend this place but I hope we see a change...
Read moreI dined in here this morning just prior to noon. I wanted to leave some comments on the service. I’ve been here maybe 3 or 4 times prior but it has been a few years since my last time. Usually in the past when I’ve dined here it’s a great experience because this is definitely more of an upscale breakfast/brunch restaurant. This morning was just a let down. I should start by mentioning we were sat VERY quick and the food was brought out promptly with it being delicious as usual. No complaints there. Unfortunately we just had a bad server. I’ll be honest I’m not sure if she was overwhelmed or she just served the way she did with us normally but it was simply terrible. She was nice but it was more so a few things she did that kind of spoiled my meal. First she forgot both of our lemons for our waters (this is minor), then I requested honey for my grits as I cannot eat grits without honey but it never came until I had to request it at the end of my meal. By the time I was eating my grits (which I paid $4 extra for) I had barely taken 3 bites out of it and as I was paying she comes up to our table and scoops up all of the rest of my meal including part of my French toast and 3/4 of my grits left without asking if I even needed a to go box for it. I was honestly just shocked. I even laughed to my girlfriend and told her that I couldn’t believe that just happened. I was served by Kelley and hopefully she was just having an off day but she definitely made too many mistakes. I hope someone maybe just gives her some constructive criticism to slow it down a bit and be a little more thorough. I could see how some people definitely would have confused her with being rude by her actions alone. Maybe I’ll come back and it will be better next time as I said I’ve never had any past...

PROS: Friendly and helpful staff High quality food. Everything we had tasted good to great. Clean
CONS: Pancakes (plain) were good not great. Not light or fluffy enough. I liked them, but if they aren't going to be light and fluffy, then they should be a little bit denser. They seemed to be right in between. This, of course, is my personal taste. But, my kids agreed too. It's not "my type" of restaurant. It's a little too fancy for me. My wife liked it. If you like a fancier atmosphere, then this could be a PRO for you. A different server dropped a tray and glass flew into me and across my side of the table. I'm not taking points off for that. But, a staff member took my plate (one pancake and a small bowl of grits) immediately. My wife was eating a plate of shrimp and grits (delicious and pricey). We got ever so slight resistance to replace that plate. The staff member said, "The glass didn't go that far." Well, it did. There was glass that had hit the wall past her. Plus, it would've have been very hard to see glass in a plate of shrimp and grits. We asked for it to be replaced anyway, and they did. This is where they lose a star for me. Even if they didn't think glass went in the food, it's the idea or possibility that it could have that would have ruined my wife's meal had they not replaced it.
OVERALL: I recommend. The food and staff are both good. Just remember, it's a little pricey...
