Almost a year ago (late July ā23), I took my laptop to Quick Mobile Repair in Independence, MO to have the screen fixed. I paid just over $400 for them to order the part, with the instruction to bring the laptop back once they called to let me know the part had come in (which they said would be 3-4 business days).
I waited about 6 business days with no call and decided to follow-up. When I called there was no answer. I tried about 4 different times that day and didnāt get an answer. I even reached out to another branch of this company in Overland Park and still had no luck reaching someone.
For whatever reason, I decided to look at their Google reviews - the most recent review, at the time, was someone who had tried to visit the store but the door was locked and the building was empty. This is how I found out they had closed the local branches.
I reached out to the company via their "Contact Us" form on their website. In their correspondence, they informed me that both locations in the Kansas City area had been closed (duh), and they offered to repair the laptop at their corporate offices in which they would pay for shipping costs. I explained that I used my laptop daily, and since this was not the service I had agreed to, I requested a refund.
After a few days of no reply, I follow up. They inform me they have issued a refund and it should be reflected in my bank account in 3-7 business days. The refund never made it to my account.
I tried to follow up via email again and did not receive a reply. I then reached out to their Instagram page (I'm persistent) and received a quick response. They did a bit of research and apologized for the inconvenience. After a few hours, I was sent a screenshot of a "pending refund" and was told that it was processed and on its way. The refund soft posted to my account, but never fully went through. When I tried to follow up with them on Instagram, they stopped responding to me.
Iām sharing this story now after a long battle with my bank (which Quick Mobile Repair told that the services has been rendered and sent them a copy of my receipt) to make sure there is awareness of the mishandling of this situation. No call. No notification. Just closed.
Iām sure there are wonderful employees doing wonderful things, but this isnāt a great way to be treated by a company who deals with people on a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't have a reason to go near this place anymore. I had a phone screen replaced by them, and within a week it started having issues. I called to inform them of this and they told me to come back. I came back on a tuesday during a time when both their google ad and schedule in the window said they were open and was greeted by a locked door and lights that were off. It took me another few weeks to find time to get back there and when I did, the people at the store immediately began dismissing my claims of a defective screen as im showing them the very issues its having. They reluctantly replace the screen again, and when I get my phone back this time, the back is all misaligned and it seemed as if it's wasn't glued together properly because a week later it began separating on its own while in my pocket and then the screen starting having issues again. At this point I was no longer interested in wasted my time to have them replace it again and informed them I wanted a refund or a credit towards a new device since they'd made mine effectively a paper weight. They told me that wouldn't be handled by the store and would be a corporate situation and they'd get back with me. They never got back with me, but when I contacted them, they said the CFO of the company by the name of Alan would be in contact with me, and I should send an email detailing the situation. I sent an email, and got no response. I confirmed with the store that I had the correct email and sent several more over the course of a month. I contacted the store to tell them, and they said that each time they had spoken to corporate(if they even had), they were tolding the situation was "being dealt with", when in reality they never so much as acknowledged me or my claim. Its been several months since this, several more emails, several more claims from the store that "corporate is on it" and still not so much as a thumbs up or down from corporate. In reality they're simply trying to wait me out because they don't want to deal with me. And while thats fine. I'll leave this here do it doesn't go unnoticed for them or their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: I went to another mobile repair store and there was no odor when they returned my phone
Got the back of my phone repaired here and phone was lightly dropped a week later and even worse damage occurred in the exact same spots
When they returned my phone it had a strong chemical odor and I assumed it was normal .
But according to my research these places will sometimes overheat it and it leads to further damage. My fault that I didnāt come in sooner but I work from my phone , was under assumption that it was under warranty but I didnāt read terms but I do believe the damage wasnāt accidental I was also not offered an insurance plan
I brought in to repair again and was going to be charged full price and my phone was further damaged from handling.
I understand paying for the new skin but to be charged the full price when it was repaired like a band aid
Go...
