I really loved this place until I accidentally got locked in a stairwell and was treated horribly for it. The place is a maze. There are arrows on the floor that lead you through the building, however, finding your way out can be a challenge. Trying to find my way back downstairs, I went through a door that looked like the door where I came upstairs. It had an exit sign, and I did not notice the small handwritten sign on the door that said authorized personnel only. The door locked behind me. There was no airflow in there and I had anxiety. I called down to the front desk, and the woman that answered the phone shamed me instead of asking me if I was okay. She made it sound like it was my problem, saying “you can go down and exit to the street.” I had merchandise with me. I already tried the door at the bottom of the stairs and it was locked too. She asked me which room I was in …there is no way I would be able to tell her which room I was in…the place is huge. She proceeded to say “you mean the door that says authorized personnel only?” Meanwhile I can’t breathe well and she passive aggressively says “okay, we’ll have someone come check ALL of the doors.” She said it like it was a problem for them. The older man who opened the door for me was angry, scary, and extremely rude. He again proceeded to shame me saying the door says authorized personnel only. He didn’t ask if I was okay. He didn’t tell me where to exit the store. He stared at me and then shamed me. I was so upset. I get along with most everyone. I apologized and said I didn’t see the sign. I never write reviews but this was an awful experience. My heart was racing as I checked out, although I contemplated leaving the stuff I had picked out behind because of my experience. I didn’t feel comfortable to address it with them in person, so I came to Google. Hopefully the owner sees this. I sure would want to know if my employees were treating...
Read moreI seriously adore this place. There's something for everyone and it reminds me of Antique Gibson Mill but with, in my opinion, more items that are priced to sell. At least prices that are more in comfort range which makes it so much fun to shop instead of window shopping!
It is wheelchair accessible. Not just getting in the door- I'd say 80 to 90% of the booths are set up so I can navigate my 16-inch foldable wheelchair in and out. There's ramps to rooms with stairs. The ramps are a little steep, so you may need assistance. I got tired doing them myself and a kind employee offered help when they noticed I was approaching one of the steep ramps, which I greatly appreciated.
There are bathrooms on the first and second floor.
There are snacks on the second floor.
There's an elevator to the second floor.
When I found a few items a vendor accidentally didn't price, they called the vendor and got them priced for us which we greatly appreciated as those finds were our favorite!
Employees were happy to help us load our found treasures into our car and they encouraged us to move our car up to a designated area for loading/unloading.
A lot of my favorite booths are frequently bringing in new items. I try to only visit once a month because goodness gracious do I always find a mountain of...
Stumbled upon 118 Marketplace by chance & it instantly became a favorite. I was greeted by a gentleman named Edwin who immediately began to tell me all about it & shared a visitor’s map with me. He hopped into the elevator and welcomed me to check out the second floor. I couldn’t believe my eyes….the vendors booths kept going & going. If I understood him correctly a few buildings have been added to this one which explains the slight elevation of the floors as you explore. And with Christmas, the vendors have put up the sweetest decor and gifts. I took as many pics as possible. I honestly felt like I had stepped back in time….It was surreal. I’ll wrap by saying I was completely blown away by the kindness of one vendor: AShoppingHabit who gifted me the sweetest nightgown that reminds me of what my mom used to wear. And additionally, the staff Sue and Shari, our conversation at the front near the entrance will stay with me for the rest of my days. Sue, I will cherish your gift and always remember my short visit to Kanapolis as I travel for cancer research. Shari, sometimes a chance encounter can change a life. Thank you for wrapping my trinket with love!
