This is one of my absolute favorite stores! Ever since I first stepped in the first time on the weekend after their grand opening, I've been hooked! The store is stocked enough that everywhere you look there's something great to check out, but not so overstocked that you feel overwhelmed by clutter. It's spotless and it's easy to get to everything that you might want to look at.
I've bought a lot here: candy (Kasugai gummies are the best, and Yoki is one of the only places in the city to have such a wide selection of their flavors) and tea, Hello Kitty merchandise (you walk in and one whole WALL is Hello Kitty) and things like stationary and pens. They have some items that are hard to find otherwise! The staff is friendly, helpful, and great to talk to. They are always able to help me find something if I'm looking for it and always willing to provide a recommendation based on what I'm already buying. They are eager to talk to every customer and to get to know them. It makes for a really nice, personal shopping experience and I highly recommend Yoki to ANYONE. Like them on Facebook, too - they post updates and talk with customers...
Read moreI was here yesterday (6/7/21), and actually come here whenever I’m in KC. The last few time I was here they had so much more Japanese goods. I have spent quite a bit of time in Japan so I always loved coming here and finding things that I missed from my time in Japan. I don’t know if COVID has been rough on them or what, but there was more random US tourist stuff than Japanese stuff. The women working the register was also completely unfriendly. She sat on her computer while we walked around without greeting us. We were the only ones there so it wasn’t like it was too busy to say hello. Then when we checked out she didn’t say anything to us but our total. No, did you find everything okay? Or have a nice day. Or even thanks for coming in. She just rang up our items, stated the total, and then went back to her computer. I am hoping that they are just struggling and will get back on their feet. But as of right now, don’t...
Read moreI don't like to leave reviews less than 5 stars, but for any parents out there who drive out of their way to come to this store, I'm afraid it's not worth it. We arrived at the store at 11:30 to find a "will return at 2pm" sign. We drove 30 minutes to get there so the kids could spend their birthday money on some fun Japanese snacks and trinkets and maybe buy some manga. As the store was closed, we passed time by riding the street car and going for lunch, money I hadn't planned on spending. Once the store did finally open, there really not much in there. Quite a bit of Funko and a few snacks, but there's a much better selection of food and drinks at the China Market across the street, no manga. If you're looking for fun Asian themed toys, videos, manga, and more, I would have to say we had so much more luck at...
