I went to Pigwich back in August of this year, and that was the very first time I ate there. I was happy to know that Pigwich is partners with the butcher shop Local Pig because there are owned by the same businesspeople. I liked the concept that Local Pig and Pigwich shared with each other, which was that they both specialize in meats from agricultural animals and also making products out of them. Citizens of Kansas City say that Local Pig is the best butcher shop in Kansas City, but I did not order anything from Local Pig when I gave Pigwich a visit.
The menu at Pigwich features many different creations of sandwiches that depend on which type of meat is on the sandwich. There was burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, barbecue pork sandwiches, and other types of sandwiches. The sandwich I ordered when I visited Pigwich was the Spicy Meatball Bahn Mi sandwich with Housemade Potato Chips. The potato chips tasted really good with the sandwich I ordered, also the service here was average even though there was a long line inside the restaurant that day.
I have to say that I had a nice time eating at Pigwich, and I would eat there again if there wasn’t that long of a line. However, some people say in reviews on Google Maps that a long line at a business tends to have bad service, but I think it depends on what certain way a business is ran. I highly encourage Pigwich and Local Pig to keep up the good work that they perform even no matter how many customers are waiting in line at...
Read moreSome of the worst BBQ in KC. The fries were good, but for a place that specializes in meat, it was terrible. They cook the burgers, one way, shoe leather. I got the special with pork and brisket. It was very thin sliced and so dry you could barely chew it. I would not recommend this place. They also said they cannot turn on the heat. It was about the same temperature in the restaurant as it was outside, 40 degrees. Good thing we wore our winter coats.
Not sure how to reply to the owners response, but here is the additional detail you requested. I was there today 2/10/2025 at around 3:00pm. Everything I stated was absolutely true, including their inability to turn on the heat. Maybe you should ask your staff about it. But I forgot to add, since I wrote the review while eating, the ladies restroom was closed, sorry ladies you’ll just have to hold it, just like my wife had to . The food we had was an embarrassment for BBQ. To be fair, the order taker, said the burger could only be served well done, I guess they don’t trust the quality of their meet to cook it any other way but well done. He did assure us it would not be dry, it was dry as a bone, just like the pork and brisket in...
Read moreGot pulled pork and a chicken tender kids meal. Pulled pork was pretty good but certainly not worth getting excited about. Atmosphere was cool - being in the station loop. Nice patio. Some stuff for kids. I wasn’t aware I needed to grab the water so we didn’t get one. The chips/fries were great, we had asked for chips and it seemed like they just half hazardly grabbed whatever. Ah well. I liked the free condiment tubs just there for anyone to grab. They could definitely charge $.75 or whatever for those. I walked in and there wasn’t anyone at the counter. I waited maybe a minute or two. He didn’t have that customer service pep - clearly had other things on his mind. The food took a while but oh well. I prefer that over express food that’s worse. The chicken tenders that came in the kids meal were super weird. They’re discs and just minced chicken in patty form. They weren’t very good and had too much breading on them for kids. Otherwise I would have given 3 stars but I don’t know how the kitchen manager can have much self respect for having those on their menu. Another “gotta go to this place” in KC that’s pretty...
