H-E-B — Local services in Kerrville

It's ok. Not as good as the larger and main store on junction. Smaller and much less choices. I also planned to pick up my usual red velvet cake but nope they stopped making it. We were told that we have to go to the other store now. So next time I am in town, I will not be going back to this store again. If you want something quick then this store is ok for that. I was also disappointed in the people who work in the deli when I went there at an earlier date. I asked for the meat to be shaved. Well forget that. I got a blank look and was asked what that meant. I told them it was paper thin, the thinnist possible and that person asked another employee who also had no idea what I meant. It took 3 people to try to cut the meat. Give it up. Well forget it, I got thin but not shaved. You will only get thin but not shaved kind of like Wal-Mart. The people at Wal-Mart are not trained regarding specialty deli meat so this was like going to the Wal-Mart deli, which was very disappointing because my experience with HEB and deli meat has always been great but not that time, so I no longer buy that there. The selections are slim for some things and an over abundance more focused on quick meals that are already prepared or your ability to get out quicker. The pharmacy is great and easy to get what you need quick. Pet food section is extremely limited. I had planned on picking up Cesar wholesome bowls for my dog but nope, they only had the Cesar pate which is the cheaper food and one that my dog cannot eat due to his health conditions and age. I honestly can't say if it is kept at the larger main store but I was not too impressed with the selection for pets, it appeared very limited which is not terrible but good to know they might not have what you need for your pet if it has to be something in particular. Also something else to know is that if you are too tired or are not able to shop and walk the bigger store then this store is great for that reason because it is much smaller and quick to check out so that is a really big plus. So some things are really good but for a few specialty items this store might not have what you are...

Thank goodness we have them but this, Kerrville, being where it all started I would like to see them give us their best like their Farmer's Market's in SA. Completely understand that the population market may not call for it according to your development plans but done right using the history of both the area and the family as well as a extensive marketing strategy to the outlying areas (possibly even some kind of discounts or something special) for those that travel a predetermined distance, I personally have seen how far many people will go for a better shopping experience. Unfortunately with the choices they have right now many choose to go to Boerne Walley World. Maybe something out of the box like a out of town discount card or club would stir them to come this way Even if it meant closing or using one of the other stores to upgrade to your best (a Flagship) where it all started! One other comment no matter what HEB does about another or upgraded store please DO SOMETHING about your meat/seafood departments, especially at what people here call the smaller store (Hwy. 16) and I do not mean tha staff they are good it's the choices -...

Breakfast sausage: I could only find Owen's brand, and it had a Combo Loco for buy 2 @ $3.98, get a bag of frozen hash browns free (something like $2.48 +/- savings). Well, I don't care for pre-made frozen hash browns, so the deal meant nothing to me. But where was Jimmy Dean's or HEB brand sausage??? Went back and forth along the back wall: Nothing. So, either I missed it, or this HEB doesn't carry it. To me, it doesn't make sense to offer -at least- the store brand as an option. I couldn't find any options for Owen's brand, so I put back the can of biscuits, eggs, and milk. I haven't been to the "big" HEB in Main recently. Surely, the prices are similar. But, I was hoping to pick up some fruit, and WOW the prices are crazy high. The fruit I was interested in looked great, so no disappointment on quality/freshness. But, it really makes me curious about price comparisons of this store vs the other (produce, specifically)... Other items I got were the same price at...
