I hate rating a place one star but as a long time customer since age of 5 at the ice house mall location/lake Zurich with many happy memories growing up going there , I no longer really wanna come here anymore sadly. The women staff used to be really helpful and friendly but some of the women are kinda rude/snotty/impatient/unhelpful and have a bad attitude which if you are selling toys etc to parents or children etc, you shouldn’t act like that as a sales person let alone at a toy store. Not nice or welcoming also drives customers away which is really bad for business. I mostly would come here for squishmallows but they are kinda way too high in prices compared to other retail suppliers. I have also noticed squishmallows from other stores being sold for their prices as a long term collector, from Amazon,Costco,target even Walgreens which is kinda shady imo. I get it’s a family owned business but reselling other retailers stores squishmallows for ones own prices is wrong and not fair to the customers that keep ur business a float. I would not recommend this location to anyone. They posted a video of the Valentines release of Squishmallows on 2/10 with a popular cow in the video to be released at 10am on 2/11. There were 5 of this cow in the video. I asked on their TikTok post if there were more than 5 cows and I got a response from LE saying, “Yes.” When everyone got in the store, the cows were hidden/scattered in the Squishmallow section. There were only 5 cows according to the rude employees in the store. This caused some of the first 5 people in the line that waited for over 3 hours to miss out on this cow. People that waited far less time further back in the line found the cows first as everyone rushed the store. Many other stores have ticketing systems to make it a first come first serve situation. This is not one of those stores. Very poor business practice and quite shady on their part. Very unorganized. Do not support this business. I went here yesterday because I heard there were new Squishmallows in stock. I had to drive over an hour to get here and once I got here there weren’t any of the ones I wanted left in stock. Which was fine I had to drive an hour and I expected it. Then I asked a worker if they had a specific one I was looking for in the back. She snapped at me and was a little rude about it. But whatever i checked out and went home. Then this morning someone sends me all of the new ones they have out which were not there last night and some of them were the ones I had asked about. Again I’m sad that I missed getting them since I live far from here but it’s no problem. So I decide to call the store and ask them if they do holds and they told me no. But yesterday I saw some on hold while I was in the store. And then I asked them if they had anything new out this morning and she told me no even though someone that I know was there and just bought a bunch of new ones that they had out. I’m just not sure why they had to lie to me. Definitely not worth the trip to go...
