The first two employees that I encountered were very informative, helpful and understanding. I had lost my wi-fi connection on my tablet/reader. Unfortunately, I had to make an appointment to come back to have a Geek Squad Tech check it out, because I couldn't wait 2 hours to get in that day. I had to wait 3 days for the appointment. I drove an hour one way each time. The day of my appointment, the young lady in the squad didn't even understand what I said the issue was. She then plugged in my computer and said, "yes, you're right, there is no place to sign into wi-fi". I knew that much. She consulted with a male coworker. The young lady comes back to me and hands me a flyer. She says, "We'll have to check your computer in. We'll need to do a hard wipe on your drive. It's going to take about a week and it starts at $250." WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!!??!!? I told her to give me back my computer and that I think it's incredible that anyone would try to take advantage of customers this way. It appears to be the mode of operation for this location as they had a stack of the flyers on the check-in table. I was a very unhappy customer. I had just spent 4 hours of my life driving to and from this location, only to have someone try to take advantage of my situation.
*I went home and watched more YouTube videos. After watching and working through several videos that only took a few minutes to do all the steps for each process, I found out that there was nothing wrong with my computer. My own persistence and daring to enter password info into the SSID of a Hidden Network was the solution. Somehow, my mobile hotspot name had been changed to Hidden Network on my list of available hotspots to connect to. Go figure!!! I solved my own issue. I paid myself that $250 and learned a lot about my computer and how to fix other networking issues, should they ever arise in the future. Thanks for nothing Best Buy, what an...
Read moreThis is regarding Brice in the car audio installation department. He is an audio expert in every sense of the word. Having a degree in audio engineering makes me uniquely qualified to assess his skill level. Live engineers in a concert setting split into 2 categories, house and monitor mix. House controls what an audience hears, monitor what the band hears. House mixers "tune" the audio signal to there room, seeking clarity and balance for every area in the venue. Brice does exactly this to the interior of the car. He has a complete understanding of how the sign waves of frequencies flow in terms of their length of travel in a given space. And sets the system to sound as close to perfect to the space as possible. The quality of the install itself, for my car, was super clean. He took extra steps to ensure there would be no failure on any of the connections down the road. And he's a super cool person who clearly cares about the quality of work he does. He helped making the choice of gear I bought based on logic and goals, not greed or indifference. This alone is the most obvious reason I trusted him: he was incredibly honest. Remember, I understand the principles at play, I understand the science. He made several conversational comments that revealed he not only understood the science too, but that he cared. . This is a person I would endorse with 10 stars if I could. Don't waste your time and money going to there independent shops in town. I spent less than $200 and got twice that in craftsmanship. I try to keep my reviews trustworthy and rooted in facts so people who read them feel like a family member is looking out for you. If you're considering getting a system installed, take your car to Brice. We've got another car, a semi and probably a motorcycle we're going to take to him I'm the coming weeks. This dude really is the...
Read moreI bought a laptop here in 2022 and all went well. The employee was very knowledgeable and helped me find a laptop that fit my needs. It was a positive experience even though the laptop had to be shipped to me since it was not in stock in the store.
However, I called this store the other day (January 2023) and the woman I spoke to was very condescending. I broke the screen on my Samsung Galaxy A20, and Samsung customer service told me I could get it repaired at Best Buy. When I called this Best Buy to set up an appointment to have the screen on my phone replaced, the employee who answered the phone acted as if I was a huge pain in her neck. When I told her I had a Galaxy A20, she acted as if I'd just handed her an open box filled with dog poop. "Oh," she said, "we don't work on those phones ." I mean, I only called because Samsung customer service told me to! Sorry to bother you, lady.
Overall, I'd give them a score of 3½ stars if that were an option. Since it's not, I'll round up to 4 stars based on previous positive in-person interaction.
Update March 2024: I was glad to learn I can drop off old/broken laptops and other computer items here for recycling/proper disposal. I dropped off 3 broken laptops a friend left behind when she moved. I was glad I didn't have to toss them in a dumpster and that Best Buy will see that they are disposed of properly. This service definitely earned them the half a star I rounded up to after the lady was so rude to me on the phone. This time all the workers I encountered were nice...
