This Urban location usually never lets me down but i’m sad to say my encounter with an employee today was rather upsetting. i went in the store with my friends and began to look around immediately a young man who worked their came up and asked us if we needed help as employees usually do but it did not end their he followed my friends and i very close the whole time making us all uncomfortable. in the particular group i was with i happend to be the only white person and i was never directly spoken to or followed but my friends who were african american hispanic were very closely watched. we go into urban a lot because it’s one of our favorite shopping spot in lawrence and this has never happened they would not let my friends carry around the items they had picked up to try on and demanded they leave them at the front while they looked which is ridiculous. we were all pretty fed up and feeling very unwanted in the store and decided to leave and as we were putting away what we had to try on or purchase the young male employee actually accused us of stealing a package of scrunchie that my friend had shown me earlier and put back. i’m not sure if it was actually because of race but at that time they were the only colored people in the store and that employee was the only one following us none of the other employees were acting that way towards us. all i have to say is this is disappointing do to how i have never experienced that nor have my friends who most definitely felt more victimized than i. i will no longer be shopping at this location and i will definitely encourage my friends to do the same...
Read moreThe disrespect and blatant rudeness that I received from the manager today was absolutely unacceptable.
I found a dress that I liked and tried it on. While trying it on, I put it over my head and did not realize there was a zipper there. Naturally, it broke, because it was stretched over my head.
When I spoke to the dressing room attendant on duty, she was very nice and understanding that it was an accident. The zipper was broken and I could have easily pulled it over my head, but they suggested to cut it off and did so. She offered to get me the same dress so that I could try it on knowing that there was a zipper.
When the manager brought back the dress, she brought me back a medium AND a large, which I did not ask for. This was not the problem.
She then proceeded to tell me that she got the large so that "when I bent over" or "ate any food" I would not "break the dress again" because she did not "want to have to cut another dress off of someone."
She falsely assumed that I was so fat that I broke the dress and fat-shamed me in front of multiple people, my friends included.
Completely unbelievable that the MANAGER had the audacity to body-shame me while shopping in their store. So disappointed that a store I used to love so much would embarrass me like that. Can't imagine how many others share a...
Read moreI went in the other day with a gift card that apparently one of the pin numbers had been scratched off. The workers could not do anything in the moment, however they were able to get in contact with the company and find the pin number! They emailed me back two days later, and I really appreciate them. Good atmosphere in the building, and the workers are...
