Kohls saves the day for teen going to his grandmother's funeral!
I just wanted to drop a note about the excellent customer service and compassion I experienced from the Kohl's associates this morning.
A few days ago, my sweet mother-in-law lost her battle with cancer. As is typical in these situation, the following days have been an emotional and mental whirlwind, and this morning was the funeral. My 13 year old son was asked to be one of her pallbearers. However, being a 13 year old boy, he didn't see an issue with not letting me know he'd grown out of his suitpants (but not his suitcoat or shirt, of course) - and his father and I were beside ourselves helping with everything else and didn't think to ask - until we were getting dressed for the funeral this morning.
My mind churned as I ran his father and siblings to the chapel, racing through possible nearby places I could go at 9AM on a saturday morning to find suitpants for my 5'11 son to wear as a pallbearer instead of his black cargo pants (and suitcoat with its pink cancer pin) and still get back to the funeral on time. (Spoiler: there aren't any)
Your store (Layton, Ut location) kept coming to mind. I checked Google, and it said you didn't open until 10, but I couldnt shake the feeling that I should drive over and just check.
We got there at 9:20, and the parking lot was full of empty cars. Maybe Google was wrong? Hopefull, I pulled up to the doors and had my 13 year old hop out and check the time. Nope, not until 10.
I checked the time, and did some quick calculations. We really wouldn't have time to drive anywhere else, find the pants, checkout, and still get back to the funeral in time.
I watched a couple associates go in, and made a decision. We would park, go to the door, explain the situation, and throw ourselves on the mercy of your associates.
To make an already long story short, we did just that. Fortune smiled on us, as there was a charity event going on that very morning at that very store, otherwise no one would have even been there so early.
Your amazing staff, after listening to our situation (and some well deserved hesitation from them, and some pleading from me, as we simply did not have time to wait until they opened properly), allowed us in to find and purchase my son's slacks to wear for his grandmother's funeral, even though they were not yet technically open.
It is not often that businesses will open their doors early, even in extenuating circumstances. But I have always found myself fiercely loyal to those who do.
We can not thank you enough for your kindness in this difficult time and situation. You took a chance on us, and we hope you get all the good things in the world for it....
Read moreThis location is extremely unorganized and grossly negligent. The Amazon return area is severely understaffed, leaving whichever poor associate working to tackle lines of 15-30+ angry customers ALONE. Even trying to shop is a nightmare, it is next to impossible to find the correct pieces and sizes Iâm looking for because items are shoved and put just about anywhere and everywhere. The times Iâve made it up to check out, Iâm being coerced into signing up for a credit card. Why would I want to sign up for a credit card if I donât much care to shop at this store often given how much of a struggle it is to shop and purchase? Itâs come to my attention that the employees are bribed or penalized depending on if they ask customers to sign up for the credit cards. Why are credit cards prioritized when the customers, employees and store arenât? Quantity over quality- Greed. Itâs a business sure, but it could at least be dignified and there could at least be a sense of pride to run this store and the employees as if IT and THEY matter, because they do. While the management is hyper focused on credit card sign-ups, their focus should be targeted towards improving the overall organization of the store, ensuring they are not treating employees as if they are Kohlâs salesmen , ensuring the Amazon return area is appropriately staffed and of course ensuring customer satisfaction to create long term happy repeat shoppers. Will not be shopping at this location again, maybe itâs time to look into new management. Do better Layton Kohlâs, the messy greed is...
Read moreIf your any kind of a decent person, I advise you to just STAY AWAY from this location. 3 weeks after having my child, I decided I needed to get out of the house for a little and do a little shopping at kohlâs. (Having two children and loving to shop Ive probably spent a couple hundred bucks every other week at this location) BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! Upon checking out, the cashier rang me up, I paid for my items and went to leave. Of course, walking through the door the alarm goes off, I turn back around and go right back to my cashier stating, âlooks like you may have forgotten something â... he then goes through my bag, finds the tag HE FAILED TO PULL OFF, pulls it off and as Iâm getting ready to leave, in front of a line full of customers, says, â maâam company policy states I need to check your purse.â COMPANY POLICY?!?! Of course I let him go through my purse as I have nothing to hide, he grabs my COACH purse, goes through it, then jokingly tries to say ... âI knew you wouldnât steal anything â. EXCUSE ME? So now Iâm beyond embarrassed, I leave to my vehicle (now in tears) I get to my truck and decide to call kohlâs and ask to speak with a manager, the person I speak with informs me that whomever is in charge of these things was on vacation and would not be back in for a few days. I left my name and number for a callback, and what do you know, not a single call. Stay away from this place if you have any kind of feelings. Heck i almost wonder if what he did was even legal, let alone...
