To whom it may concern: I like visiting the free store when i can. I am disabled and can't get out much. When i do i usually bring a donation. Rather it be cash or clothes. I visited the Free store on Friday the 2nd. It was 4:45 pm I brought in a bag of clothes and a child's floatie. I am a creative artist. By the window on the floor by the shoes were the beads hang. I asked the lady behind the counter if she could hand me a bag. I grabbed a few beads. She told me i could only have one. I said i only have one of each. She said no i could only have one set of beads per day. I was very embarrassed and hurt. People were looking at me like i was some kind of thief or crazy. I asked her how come they call the place. "free store"?. I told her I'd start giving my donations to someone that can use it. Thank you for a great store. I'm on a limited income. That is the reason i go there. I don't work. So mainly i need T-shirts and shorts. I visited yesterday the 16th of September. Was a good visit. I have some great friends still in Lead and some of the volunteers I know . They are sweet...
Read moreI took 42 bags of very nice clothing(33 garbage trash bags)plus baby wakes and other baby things and donated ages from 0-36 children, men and women clothing when i heard abt this place. I had intended to do a yard sale but I 3 health reasons it a halt to that. They told me it was for anyone to use as needed so I donated. Well as of yesterday I thought I need some clothes rainy 4 grandkids so i went u there. As I found a few things the lady running the store came u to me and informed me there was a limit and I had reached my limit. She said this was for the community there and they had its of families they help, like we aren't the community. When i brought my stuff one thing i noticed it was more for older lady clothing and young children things were pretty tathered. So I felt I had done a very good deed. But to assume we wasnt the community and there is a limit really upset me! Who do you think you are to Denis anyone because you didn't know them and didnt ask. This was unreal and i left and WI never go back nor donate. I will let folks know what...
Read moreI live in Spearfish, but try to take any useable clothes and household items that I no longer use that are in good condition to the FREE Store. ( It seems the stores in Spearfish receive more stuff than they can process and it stacks up outside or in the back room.) The volunteers have always been friendly when I have brought items in. I love the fact that it is a FREE store! Often I have talked to kiddos leaving with a game or a pair of shoes they were talking home from the FREE Store. They were excited about their new gifts. Thank you volunteers for making this service available. I try to tell everyone I can about the FREE Store. Whether they want to donate items or need items. You are a blessing to the Northern Hills. P.S. Cash donations can help pay the rent...
