If I could give this place 0 stars I would.
Went in for lunch with 3 adults and 5 kids (ages: 16, 11, 6, 2 and 11 months) while site seeing from out of town. There was a large table of about 15 there when we arrived, getting their food as we walked in and a few tables with 2 people. It took almost 15 minutes before we were approached by a waiter for our drink order, when drinks arrived 2 were missing and the waiter could not remember what was ordered, 3 drinks came without ice which was odd. We ordered food, menu was pretty small, 4 kids meals and some appetizers.
Initially only 2 appetizers arrived which took about 20 minutes, we waited patiently for the other items (about 15 minutes) and then were finally approached by a waitress (later found out she was the manager) who did not initially take our order. We told her we were still missing quite a few items among them the kids meals and 3 appetizers. It was then she told us one of the kids meals was no longer available (mac and cheese) and was being replaced by a quesidilla, not an ideal change but we took it. The waitress herself went back and made it right then and there, which was nice but no other consideration was given to the other missing items. After she made said quesidilla she left it sit on the kitchen window and didn't bring it to the table, she never came back to follow up us. Finally the kids cheeseburger arrived without the fried it was ordered with, followed by the 2 kids cheese pizzas that were so tough my kids couldn't even chew them. At this point we were still missing 3 items we ordered, all appetizers. During all this wait we witnessed cheeseburgers sitting on the kitchen window waiting to be brought to tables for about 15 minutes, these were finally delivered by a staff member who was sweating profusely and kept wiping the sweat from his forehead and hair right before grabbing plates of food...
Finally enough was enough (after about an hour and a half) and we got the exhausted and hungry kids out of the restaurant and left another member of our party to speak with the someone about our bill only to be chased down the street like we had tried to pull a dine and dash! The bill ended up being comped, which was the least they could do after this...
Read moreI do not like to leave slightly negative reviews but I hope the owner can take the feedback to make it a better experience for the next guests. My wife and I decided to eat at the Stampmill after driving all day to get to Lead from Wisconsin. We both were tired and hingry and the StampMill Inn looked pretty cool and interesting. The building is historic which was neat and it has a ton of character. I believe they also have some rental rooms on the upper floors. The overall atmosphere was Ok but not really air conditioned (there was a window unit in the back corner). It was a pretty hot day which made it kinda warm and stuffy inside. They do have outdoor seating but none was available at the time plus it was pretty warm outside as well. FOOD: My wife ordered a burger and salad. Her salad was great and her burger was good. I ordered fried pickles as an appetizer, the Beer BBQ Burger with tots. The burger and tots were good and the fried pickles never came out. I had to remind the server who forgot them and I got them at the end of the meal but they were good when I did finally get them. DRINKS: I ordered the Arnold Palmer and it came out way to tart with too much lemonade to the point I could not drink it but they did remove from the bill which I appreciated. SERVICE: We were greeted and seated quickly but after that....everything got a little slower. Our waitress was a nice young lady but in need of additional waitress training...I am not sure but maybe she was new at the job. I hope she learns to use more interaction with her customers. Food did take a little bit to come out.
All in all, visitors should try the place for yourself if in the Lead area. It is a pretty cool historic building in a really ...
Read moreThe reviews were pretty mixed so we decided to give it a chance. The service (from our server) wasn't good. There was another server who checked in on us TWICE because she was walking by and noticed that our waitress hadn't checked on us and we clearly needed something. After taking our order and bringing our appetizer, our waitress came out and said they didn't have one of the items we'd ordered- but it had been 15 mins since we ordered. She ordered something else and then 3 minutes later, the waitress came back out and said "Wait we do have it". Great. Food comes out and on the menu it specifically said "two 6oz chicken in sauce" so I asked her where the other chicken was. We were told it was butterflied, that the menu is inaccurate, etc. I didn't take a picture of the plate because it was an awkward encounter. Long story short, we sent it back and my sister didn't eat. The waitress ignored us the rest of the time as if she was upset we sent the meal back. She dropped off our check and came back to pick up payment, but I told her I'd paid online using the QR code. I would not return to this place. They didn't try to make any of it right and instead ignored us and made us feel like we were wrong for pointing out the differences in the product vs menu description. The pork belly mac and cheese was a little too greasy for my liking. The salad, cheese curds, and chicken strips...
