My brother brought me to Tory Burch to buy me a pair of sandals I had been wanting for my 21st birthday. It was supposed to be a fun and meaningful moment, but it ended up being really disappointing.
When we arrived, the store was nearly empty — maybe 4 other customers and at least 5-6 employees. Another Hispanic woman and I had been inside browsing before more customers arrived, yet neither of us were approached or offered help. Meanwhile, other shoppers who arrived after us were greeted, helped, and brought shoes to try on. It was clear who was being prioritized.
My brother and I are bilingual — born in the U.S., we naturally switch between English and Spanish in conversation without thinking about it. I asked the associates questions in English, but we would chat between ourselves in both languages. I couldn’t help but notice some of the associates giving us judgmental or uncomfortable looks once they heard Spanish. It felt like we were being dismissed or looked down on.
After about 20 minutes of being ignored, I finally said, “Well, it seems like they don’t want our business 🤷🏻♀️ let’s go.” Only then did someone approach me to help — and she was kind and helpful. But when she got busy and asked another associate to assist, that person refused to answer my questions and just stared at me.
My brother encouraged me to still get the sandals, which I did — but the joy was gone. I walked out feeling sad and disrespected. I truly hope Tory Burch trains its staff better because no one should feel unwelcome or judged while shopping, especially based on language...
Read moreHow humiliating is it for me a woman of color to walk into a well known store such as Tory Burch looking to purchase flats for work and to not even be acknowledged by any of the non brown staff which was the entire working employees there today 10/4/23 around 12:30-12:45 pm. (See who was all working and if you have cameras roll them back)I walked in never greeted, stood by the shoes seen 2 pair however there were 2 employees who looked me in the face and never opened their mouth to ask if I need help, when I'm about to ask 1 go in the back and the other never looked back up. My daughter and I continue to browse and nothing. Whenever I made eye contact with any of the employees not one said anything. As we just decided to walk out 4 staff members laughing and conversing in the doorway never said have a nice day or did you find what you were looking for. Last but not least everyone in the store was non brown... Go figures and I own plenty of Tory Burch merchandise. Wish I could give...
Read moreI have been to this store multiple times but my last visit was the first time I felt the customer service has gone down significantly and that too from the general manager. Certainly not the most polite guy to be around there and to my surprise, he was also the general manager mr LUI ATIKI. We liked a bag and asked him if he can get a new copy from inside the store and which is what usually we have done when we bought from there… but this time around there was no bags available in the store inside and instead all were on the shelves so we asked if there is any additional discount on the ones which are on show shelves. He just seemed to feel offensive about the same because we asked it twice to him. We understand he did not want to negotiate but that does not mean he will be rude and will not be ready to answer a question twice. If he does not know sales or customer service probably should be transferred to back office. Never had such demeaning behavior from brand...
