UPDATE: 9/28
I always order the moist brisket and in the 12 or so visits, in the past year, it’s never been a bad meal but tonight was bad- The lady cutting the meat gave me three thick slices of heavy fat with a lil meat- Since this isn’t my first time ordering, I know that there will be SOME fat but this was mostly fat- When I got the lady’s attention ( and she looked annoyed that I was at the counter) I tried to show her the cut and she didn’t even look at it but informed me that with the moist there’s going to be fat. I explained that I understood that and I have no problem with that but this is mainly fat and could I please have a new cut? Grudgingly she cut me three new and much much better slices- Instead of bringing it to the counter she told one of the girls at the register to bring it to me- The girl was so sweet and apologized for the issue ( which she didn’t need to) I’m not paying $14 for three slices of fat- I wouldn’t have been able to eat it and I don’t think the lady cutting it and serving it would have eaten it either- The cornbread was undercooked and crumbled apart- if you tried to hold it and bite it, it crumbled and if you tried to eat it with a fork, it crumbled even more- So, I squished it with my fingers to grab up and eat😂
Still one of my favorite places and one bad visit doesn’t take away from all the other great meals
Pic #3 with extra fatty pieces- (which I took to the counter)#4 once we took meat off this was the fat left( they had me keep the original serving and I picked the meat off) - #5 the replaced pieces💙 —————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Food is delicious- We ordered a brisket combo with Mac cheese and baked beans- and a pulled pork w/ mac - meals came with cornbread
Brisket was moist, smoked and had the right fat to make it tasty- This visit they were quite generous in portion- Nice and thick slices-The Mac n cheese wasn’t as baked, ooey gooey- A bit more runny than other visits- baked beans are the best I’ve ever had from a bbq restaurant- nice pieces of beef cooked into the beans- sweet but not too sweet- pulled pork moist but not mushy and fatty-
Sauces- we liked each one-
Service was great- polite and patient as we decided on our options- Clean- Tables were clean and was pleased to see that the bbq sauce bottles weren’t...
Read moreMy experience at mission BBQ was nothing short of amazing. I saw the advertisement with the big army truck but I had no clue what to expect. Where I'm not all that experienced in meat, the waitress was kind and patient with me in my indecision. What's more, my friend and I went there on cards for the free sandwich offers extended to us through family, people who serve this GREAT nation.
I don't like the feeling of fat in my mouth, but I was there for the experience, and my friend portrayed her pleasure of such squishyness and naturally I tried it, but it wasn't my thing.
Long story short, we had three cards, and when I went to use the third card to get something more palatable (for me) the waitress told me to put it away and she not only brought a new, FRESH sandwich, but she waited and let me scrutinize the fat content (and there WAS fat)and where my friend had to step in and specifically say, NO FAT.
This woman, left even THAT sandwich at the table to go get me yet ANOTHER lean meat brisket sandwich that I could eat, and it, (the marbling of the meat-(and I'm an expert on meat now) was so good and SO TENDER that I wanted to lay back on my bed at the halfway house to extend and take in the whole experience in further comfort.
The AWESOME! Patriotic themed environment, the EXCELLENT customer service, and even down to the AMERICAN ingenuity within utilizing plumbing parts, to make the paper towel dispensers at the tables, makes this place one to be reviered within the fabric of this GREAT NATION.
I didn't get the name of the waitress (the young lady with the pink hair) but I salute your dedication and service in seeing to it that even an iota of a relation to someone who served, was ACTIVELY TAKEN CARE OF here in this...
Read moreI happened to be in the Northville area and decided I wanted something other than Chick Fil A for once, but somewhere that at least had good mac n cheese. I started searching around and came across Mission BBQ, and let me tell you they did NOT disappoint.
I first walked in and was greeted by the lovely young lady at the counter, and I told her it was my first time there (as a way to let her know I needed a moment before I was ready). She offered to go over the menu with me or let me look through it myself. I ended up getting the pulled pork sandwhich, mac and cheese, and green beans. She also ended up giving me a peach cobbler :))
I couldn't find the lids and straws (they hide it btw lol in the little tool box - neat idea). The young lady at the front counter helped me find the lids and straws and shared her experience of having trouble finding it too when she first started which honestly made me feel less embarrassed.
Mission BBQ openly supports those in service - soldiers, firefighters, police officers, first responders, in which you can openly see tributes to all branches and service careers in their seated dining area. This hit closer to home with me, as my boyfriend is stationed in the Marines, so seeing tributes to the Marine Corp made it feel like he was kind of there with me a little bit. When he gets back home, I am 100% going to take him to Mission BBQ.
According to their website, Mission BBQ has donated over $20 million dollars to national and local charitable organizations. This is not only a great restaurant with delicious food that supports those in service, but also one that actively gives back to community. I highly recommend giving...
