I recently had an unfortunate experience at Zales Jewelry Store at Tanger Outlet, Locust Grove, GA. I called to inquire about the status of my wedding ring repair, and the manager, Jim, answered the phone. His response to my inquiry was dismissive and rude, saying, "If it was here, we would have called you." His tone and lack of helpful information were not what I expected from a reputable jewelry store. After putting me on hold for several minutes, he returned to inform me that my ring had actually been in the store since the previous Monday. He claimed that someone had tried to contact me, but I had received no missed calls or voicemails from the store, which was the very reason for my call.It's frustrating and disheartening to be treated this way, especially about something as sentimental as a wedding ring. Such treatment left me feeling undervalued and frustrated. My experience took a positive turn when I visited the store the next day. I was greeted by three young ladies upon entering the store and requested to speak to the manager on duty, Lisa, who was very helpful. She provided the quality of service I had initially hoped for. About 10 minutes later another employee came in with food in their hand and that initial employee went to the back (assuming to go eat). The other employee provided better customer service, but in the same note mentioned that other jewelry stores were in the plaza when I was stating what I was looking for. I felt a little prejudged because I was asking about the discounts. I was asking to gauge how much I was wanting to buy at once…buying one item costing $500 compared to 2-3 items totaling around the same total or little more…trying to get a bang for my buck. However, the repair service wasn't the best and it left much to be desired; I was informed by the Zale's Staff that the deficiency and unsatisfactory repairs were the result of one of the Master Jeweler's Assistants and not the Master Jeweler. After the Zale's Staff reviewed and returned my product for a 3rd time for corrective repairs (product was purchased January 5th and never left the store due to the need for repairs; finally picked up March 21st), the Master Jeweler made it a point to take care of it personally and return it ASAP.
