First off, I'd like to say I've been a long time, devoted customer of Hobby Lobby, and have always had an overall good experience until this evening. I tried to make a return this evening with a receipt that was past their 90 day policy, so I simply asked for store credit on the merchandise they actively stock based on the lowest selling price in the last 60 days; which is their policy for returns made with an invalid or missing receipt. Janice (whom I believe was an assistant manager) told me that she would need to have someone go verify that the items were currently stocked and had not been clearanced out, which I completely understood and was fine with. However, Janice then informed me that she didn't currently have anyone in that department so I should try back another day (this was only the start of this rude and completely ridiculous interaction I had with Janice). Although taken back a little, I gladly offered to go look myself and take pictures with my phone camera (by the way did I mention that I'm almost 8 months pregnant and was with my 3 year old son). She immediately dismissed this offer and stated that she needed to "have her eyes on it". I explained it's not very ideal for me to have to come back another day, when they may or may not have someone available to help me with my return. When asked what day and time would be better, she bluntly stated "it's hard to say". ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I informed her how ridiculous this was, that she couldn't really expect me to be able to keep coming back in hopes that I somehow show up when someone is finally available to help me. She then grabbed me bag, quickly glanced in it and said "I think we have clearanced all this out so I'm not gonna accept the return". I then pulled out multiple items and informed her that I had just passed by these items on the shelves while shopping prior to my return. At this point I asked the original cashier (Ashley) who was initially helping me, and was very nice and apologetic for the obviously ridiculous treatment I was receiving, how I could make a formal complaint. Janice once again popped her head in and rudely stated "you'll need to call Oklahoma"; no apology, evidence of remorse, or additional information just simply to call Oklahoma. When I called her out on her dismissive behavior and the fact that she was blatantly going against the store policy, she was then "magically" able to find someone to come up and help me, i.e. she actually did her job and radioed for someone who was both available and able to come up right away. However, at this point I was practically in tears and upset that this horrible and humiliating interaction had occurred in front of my son, so I chose to just take my stuff and leave. This whole interaction with Janice, made it pretty evident that she simply didn't want to deal with the hassle of assisting with the completion of my return. I have had some poor customer service experiences in the past, but I can honestly say this was the worst. I feel sorry for the sweet cashier Ashley, who stated she was brand new, to be a party to this type of terrible customer service and I hope she doesn't let Janice's rude, dismissive attitude and extremely poor social skills...
Read moreGreat experience! I was really surprised! First off, this is a really BIG store and they have a very wide variety of all kinds of items. I think the building was a sporting goods store before Hobby Lobby took it over. It was my first time at this store and (after Thanksgiving) before Christmas, so I was not so sure I wanted to go in because their large parking lot was packed. It really didn't take too long to find a spot to park, but I hate waiting in lines and thought to myself that I'll have to be patient if that's what it takes to get our mission accomplished. Apparently Hobby Lobby was having a really good sale and when I got inside, I looked around and the store was packed with plenty of shoppers. It was also packed with great deals and helpful staff. The very first thing I noticed when I was walking through the front door was that the lines were about 3 - 4 shoppers deep. At that moment I thought the checkout was going to take a really long time, but when we got there it was really fast and all the people and cashiers who worked in the store were really friendly and fast. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes with everything we needed to decorate our house for the holidays. The Christmas decoration section was huge, almost took up 1/4 of the store and had such a variety. I needed help getting something specifically and the staff members knew exactly where to find everything. They were willing to walk down and show me where they were on the shelves, which was really going above and beyond in my book! I ended up buying all our Christmas decorations and some additional gifts for some friends and family. I am going to try going back again for more thinhs before the holiday and I will probably go back for some other crafts throughout the year. It looked as if their selection if yarn and cloth was large. They sold a lot of other little decorations and keepsakes. I am definitely impressed with this Hobby Lobby because shopping during the holidays is not usually a pleasant experience for me. I'm trying to think of something else to say, maybe negative, but I really can't think of anything bad at all! Way to go Hobby Lobby for making it easy for your shoppers to purchase their much needed holiday cheer and making it easy to get in and...
