Well, this place is more of the definition of hole in the wall. He has passed by it over 200 times, never noticed it. It is in a small strip mall, shared by a barbershop and 7-11. They have a small Internet presence - mainly a few social media platforms, I guess relying on word of mouth. It works for them - they have only about 5 tables with a maybe a 6 top bar or something like 12-14 top long table. The tables were full and two people were seated at the long table when we arrived. We decided on the Chicken Quesadilla, Asada Tacos, and Barbacoa Tacos. We grabbed our drinks and sat down. In a few minutes, they were bringing us the quesadilla and tacos - served with slices of lime and a salsa verde. The food was delicious, the salsa verde had a nice heat. The quesadilla had a little grease dripping as I ate it, making it feel more like homemade than purchased in a restaurant. The steak in the tacos was moist, flavorful. The staff was very friendly and patient while we looked over the menu at the counter to order. The restaurant was bright, with some televisions to watch, and a loudspeaker outside playing music to draw you in. We are looking forward to our next visit to La Cocina de la Abuela!

This place is perfect. Don't let the fact that it's next to a 711 fool you. ..they are incredible. The variety of dishes Is uncanny because it's more than most pricey Mexican restaurants. The friendliness and welcoming attitude of the staff puts them top of the food chain in hospitality. The place feels like home a dinner at home in Mexico. They surpass expectations on every level. The music is not obnoxious Banda or Reggaeton or even Vicente Fernandez but Beautiful instrumental mariachi, music to be proud of that speaks more to what Mexico is. The gas and the restaurant are free of weirdos loitering. The location is perfect too. It is unexpected to find this jewel in a gas station but it's the best surprise ever. I had chilaquiles and huevos in salsa Verde. To die for! Abuelita has this place looking gorgeous. One can tell that lots f genuine love goes into this place. Abuelita takes care of the beautiful plants that make one feel just heavenly and peaceful. I should have bought dinner to go too but next time I'll know to get a bit more for home. I'm craving them non stop. A complete delight

We ordered online and was only about a 20-minute wait to pick up our food. I got 4 al pastor street tacos, and my wife got the chicken burrito. It's a little pricy for what I usually pay, but the taste and quality were amazing. The items do not come with sides unless you get one of the specific meals that have them, so make sure you know what you're getting before you order as it may not be enough for some people. The tacos were not quite enough to make me full as a big ol' american boy (lol), but they did hold me over until next meal time. Inside is small so when it's busy you will probably have to wait outside or standing. It's attached to the 7-11, and you may not find it the first time around. You can customize meal options online. I was able to walk in easily and get my order when it was ready. Staff was friendly and quick to help. I do recommend this place but only as more of a special treat for myself.

me and my bf recently went into this restaurant for dinner and I ordered plain cheese enchiladas. Note I’m a vegetarian and don’t eat meat. We got home and the enchiladas were filled with nothing but streak… no cheese was even inside of them. I called and the lady told me to come in, I asked if I could get a refund and I was hung up on. We went back and she had made me a new plate of food, I again asked if I was getting a refund in which I was just told “it’s ok” while she told me to take the food on the counter. I don’t speak much Spanish so I tried using a translator to tell her I just wanted a refund. Note I spent $35 on a torts and a plate of enchiladas. The enchiladas alone were $17!! We went back and forth on the translator because she was telling me I needed to bring the food back when I was never told that. I don’t understand how hard it is to just give me a refund. Not to mention they were incredibly rude and snarky the whole time. I will NEVER go here again. I’m very disappointed because living in highlands Ranch there’s not many authentic Mexican restaurants. The worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Extremely over priced, rude people and...
