The hair salon is located in the center of Koreatown, close to where I live, and walk-in service was available, so I visited there. I didn't think it was a big deal since I just went there to get my hair done. I forgot to ask the price in advance, it was very expensive and I had to tip. The receptionist asked me what service I wanted, and when I said I would just get a haircut, she guided me to the dressing room. She gestured not so kindly toward her dressing room. She directed me to come over to shampoo, and she spoke English, so I told her I could also speak Korean and English bc she is Korean, not good English, and she didn't speak at all from then on, and she seemed busy talking to someone else. After shampooing and being guided to the haircut area, she told the first woman at the reception that she was good at cutting hair so she could take care of it and she left. The woman who worked as a stylist didn't seem skilled, but she seemed like she was trying hard. I thought she looked like her trainee, and she didn't seem friendly at all. And after she cut my hair, she dried my hair and said she was checking the length of myr hair and kept cutting it for a while longer. As I was drying my hair, another woman at the reception came over and just said “You probably don’t like your hair, but your hair is pretty good and it will be fine if you give it a treatment.” I think it's a strange comment, I love my hair and it's ok. I have work to do today, so I'll try it next time. thanks. Then she said I like your personality, made a strange comment and disappeared. The price was $70 for a women's haircut, and the tip was $15. I was surprised at how ridiculously expensive it was. The reason I don't recommend it is because you won't be respected if you use Korean. We recommend that you use English, and if you are going to speak Korean, we recommend that you put on makeup and...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this salon. My experience was beyond exceptional. I have always wanted to bleach and dye my hair, but it’s never been an option for me as I have very fragile, damaged hair. The manager Joyce recommended colored hair extensions as an alternative option, and omg it’s a game changer. I got the prettiest platinum purple shade and I am so thrilled with my results. The number of compliments I’ve received has been a confidence booster haha. I’ve had my extensions for over a week now and even as someone with sensory issues, it hasn’t bothered me at all past day 2. The extensions are so natural looking and so easy to take care of. I have no problems washing my hair or even brushing and drying it.

The lovely Joyce and another pretty young woman applied my extensions and the level of care and detail was tangible. They both constantly ensured that I was comfortable and they really went over the moon to ensure that I was happy with the areas of application. The salon itself is so upscale, pretty, and clean. All the employees are super nice, friendly, and evidently skilled. Even just getting my hair washed there is a treat haha.

And the best part is that their prices are extremely fair and reasonable for the quality of care and the products. Yes, I will absolutely be going back for all my hair salon needs and ya best believe I’m getting these...

I got a hair perm here several times and liked the end result. HOWEVER, 3 stars for the pricing. The first time I got a haircut AND perm and paid $120, but the more times I came in the more the price increased. And for no reason at all. I didn’t even get a haircut the other times, just a perm touch up but it cost $200! Every time the price increased by at least $20, and I would not do anything special. I think they did it cause I’m not Korean? The end result of the haircut here is good, but I would just be careful with the bill at the end especially if you’re not Korean. I also noticed they treat Korean customers better than non-Korean customers… there are also some workers here who aren’t fluent in English so it helps to know the language or have a friend with you that knows it. It seems now post the prices online, so that’s good and you’re able to keep track of how much you have to pay.

Unfortunately I won’t be a returning customer since there are other places more welcoming towards everyone and aren’t shady with price increases. The haircut and perm was great, just not good enough to make up for the other aspects.

TLDR: End product is good. Service is okay, you’re treated better if you’re Korean or speak the language. Pricing can be iffy, now prices are posted online, but if it ever increased every single time you visit, ask why and if...

Update 7/17/22: Hiro lost his consistency and completely screwed up a fade on the lower back of my head, with 3 obvious lines and a completely uneven (he basically left a blob of longer length hair in a shortly cropped area - think he missed a spot mowing the lawn kind of look). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original review: I was a former client of Hiro of 10 years, but today we finished our relationship, on a bad note. He first texted me with a note that he's raised his prices, fine, but then texts me saying he's expecting me to pay more (through tips). I was fine with this, but also pointed out that todays cut had an error in it. He ends the convo by telling me to essentially go somewhere else in the future. In summary, his work was OK, he was consistent most of the time. However, you'd run into language issues if you don't speak Korean, and he seemingly will lash out at you over simple problems. Even if you have a long term relationship. If you go to Hiro, good luck. It's a matter of time until he turns you away. He might be at another shop in the future, but on 7/16 - 7/17/22, he's currently renting a chair at Hairdo.

Jumped on the layered cut trend and zero regrets! Min and Joyce are absolute pros. They break down the style before starting, so you know exactly what you're getting. Arrived right at opening and the place was already buzzing. Always a good sign, right? They use this awesome massage tool during the wash - hello, scalp heaven! Post-cut, my hair looks put-together even on lazy days. Want more drama? Ask them to start the layers higher. Pro tips: 1️⃣ This place is popular for a reason. I'd suggest booking ahead if you can. Trust me, it's worth the wait! 2️⃣Located in a mall with tons of parking (don't forget to validate!). P.S. If it's good enough for celebs and influencers, it's good enough for us mere mortals! 😉

HairDo in Koreatown is my go-to spot for all things hair. Run by the sweetest Korean ladies, this place is the real deal. Just had their keratin treatment and wow! My frizzy mess is now silky smooth. The process is super thorough and they even throw in a face mask while you're under the heat. No pushy sales, just good old-fashioned pampering. Cuts and perms? Top-notch. Prices? Totally reasonable. No wonder USC kids flock here.Love that it's appointment-only. Means no chaos, just chill vibes.Trust me, ditch those overpriced trendy salons. HairDo's where it's at. Your hair will thank you! 🙌💇‍♀️ Tip: Book ahead, this place is popular with us regulars!
