UPDATE: a few hours later and my finger is infected. I’m calling the health dept in the morning and reporting them. ORIGINAL: The most ludicrously bad experience I’ve ever had. I’m a regular at Lux Nails on la Brea which I absolutely adore and where I will be going forever moving forward, but I decided to try Kosmos since it’s walking distance from where we just moved. They would have gotten a lot of business from me. The head lady argued with me that my gel she had to remove was not in fact gel (I don’t know what else she thought it could be? It is gel. It doesn’t come off immediately, most people in this business know that). She went too hard with the drill and now my nails are paper thin. My thumbs don’t match - she rounded the first thumb to almost nothing (my nails are long and I like oval with a point which is what they were). She made my cuticle bleed. And then she tried to pull some scam with the credit card machine - it said payment accepted offline and I got a notification from my cc on my phone that it went through but she tried to make me pay twice. They should be shut...
Read moreI really liked this place initially because it was easy to get an appointment, they were quick, young professionals, you can pay with a card and parking was efficient. However I don’t think I will be back because on one occasion the nail tech cut so deeply into my cuticle on my big toe, it started bleeding in the water and burned for a week and a half later and made it hard to wear closed toe shoes. Recently, I had a manicure and she squeezed my finger so hard while filing the remaining gel off of my nail and filed so aggressively she broke my nail down past the skin. I noticed but looked away and 2 minutes later she said shockingly oh no your nail is broken. Well guess what? It was broken when I arrived here 10 minutes ago. Neither situation offered an apology or discount. Nail techs have to be careful especially in these situations and they were negligent. Lastly, the quality just isn’t as good as other...
Read moreMy friends and I got our nails done on Monday. my Dip has already cracked and broken two days later today (Wednesday) I was told I couldn't get extensions, only gel x, because no one there knew how to do tips and only one person could do gel x. Seems ridiculous someone who can do gel x can't just apply extensions and dip powder? Felt like they were trying to get more money from me. Just the plain dip manicure took over one hour and they were relentless with the drill. It felt like my nails were on fire. I've never felt that in all my years of getting nails done. My friends said the same, so it was not just one lacking tech. In total we were at this place for almost 3 hours just for pedis and simple nails (I got regular dip, one got regular gel and one an acrylic fill) The girls themselves were super nice but the services were absolutely not worth the time and money...
