Mutsu is a newly opened Japanese izakaya that’s already worth the visit. The space is stunning—the bar is carved from stone, softly lit, and feels both modern and intimate. Sitting there, you get a front-row seat to watch the chefs in action, which really adds to the whole experience. The food was fantastic—a fresh spin on Japanese classics. Even the simple things, like miso soup and edamame, tasted elevated. The fennel salad was a standout too—so fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The bao were pillowy soft and packed with flavor, and the bowls (we tried wagyu and salmon) were beautifully presented and tasted just as good as they looked. But the star for me? The black sesame crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. Absolutely amazing—rich just as needed, and unlike anything I’ve had before. Overall, Mutsu nails the balance of atmosphere, design, and flavor. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to, and I’m excited to see how the menu evolves now that they’ve just opened. Go try now!

Wow, I was completely blown away !!! This is hands down the best new Japanese restaurant in LA. The setting is intimate and thoughtfully designed, with an ambiance that feels both refined and serene. Each dish was executed with such care and depth of flavor: the grilled edamame was the perfect start, the Uni Chawanmushi was luxuriously delicate, the Wagyu & Shrimp Bao was a surprising standout, the Wagyu & Shiitake Yakitori was flawlessly tender, and the Chirashi Bowl with salmon was as fresh and balanced as it gets. Chef Alex is truly a talent — every plate reflects his vision and passion. A dining experience that feels truly special. Can’t wait to go back ! A dining experience that feels truly special.

What a cool restaurant for a date or catch up with an old friend. Whoever did the decorating deserves an award, it has a feel of permanence, style, and Japanese order. The food? Every bite had depth. Each ingredient had a role to play, and together they made a harmony. Remarkable. The chef and staff are respectful pros who make everyone feel welcome. Make sure you go to 350 N La Cienega, about half a block up from Beverly Blvd, wooden door. My photos are lame but you get the idea. Savory and delightful dishes you won't find anywhere else in LA. éŁŸæăźćŁ°ăŒćŁäžă§ć’Œă‚’çŽĄă Shokuzai no koe ga kuchĆ« de wa o tsumugu “The voices of the ingredients weave harmony in the mouth.”

Stepping into this sushi restaurant is like entering a sanctuary for the senses. From the moment you cross the threshold, the breathtaking wabi-sabi design envelops you in a serene and perfectly imperfect beauty. The use of natural materials, exposed textures, and minimalist aesthetics creates an atmosphere of profound tranquility and rustic elegance. At the heart of it all is the showstopper bar—a magnificent piece of craftsmanship that feels less like a place to eat and more like a stage for culinary artistry, commanding your attention while inviting you to settle in and watch the magic unfold.

The food is nothing short of a masterpiece, living up to the promise of the stunning surroundings. Each dish is a testament to the chef's meticulous skill, as beautiful to behold as it is delicious to taste. Every plate was presented with the precision and grace of a painter’s canvas, making each bite an experience that was both a feast for the eyes and the palate.

This is more than just a meal; it's a memorable journey into the art of Japanese cuisine and design. The flawless service and unforgettable ambiance make it a destination I cannot...

I recently visited the newly opened Mutsu on La Cienega is an impressive addition to the Japanese dining scene. The restaurant’s dĂ©cor is elegant and refined, with beautiful marble accents that create a clean, inviting, and charming atmosphere. I began with the grilled edamame, which was far from ordinary, perfectly charred, delicately seasoned, and full of flavor. The fennel salad was a delightful surprise: crisp, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, offering a unique texture and taste that exceeded expectations. The Wagyu bao was another standout, with its pillowy bun and tender, flavorful meat prepared to perfection. To complement the meal, the sake was smooth and refined, enhancing the entire dining experience. Special thanks to Chef Alex and the wonderful staff. Their warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness made the evening even more memorable. Mutsu combines exceptional cuisine, impeccable service, and an elegant atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an elevated Japanese...
