Amongst the hustle and bustle of la Cienega Blvd of Los Angeles lies a hidden gem of a restaurant that goes by Torisoba Tonsho it feels like a secret you almost don’t want to share but the butter lemon ramen here deserves a spotlight.
From the first sip of the broth, you’re hit with a bright, zesty note of lemon that cuts through the richness like a sunbeam. It’s unexpected, in the best way balancing the savory depth of the chicken based torisoba with a citrusy lift that refreshes rather than overwhelms. Then comes the butter melting slowly into the bowl, enriching each spoonful with a silky, decadent texture that coats the noodles and lingers gently on the palate.
The noodles themselves are perfectly cooked firm with just the right chew, nestling in that golden broth like they were made for it. Every element feels considered: a soft-boiled egg with a custardy yolk, tender slices of chicken, and scallions that add a welcome bite. It’s simple, but elevated. Comforting, yet quietly bold.
On top of the excellent food, I have to say I’m incredibly grateful to the staff for a small act of kindness that made a big difference. My phone had completely died, and they generously let me charge it while I ate. It might seem like a little thing, but in a big city when you’re navigating far from home, that kind of hospitality matters. It turned a great meal into a genuinely heartwarming experience.
Torisoba Tonsho has managed something special here taking a ramen shop staple and giving it a bright, buttery twist that feels entirely its own. Whether you’re a ramen traditionalist or an adventurous eater, this bowl is worth...
Read moreTorisoba Tonsho is a hidden gem and easily one of the best ramen spots I’ve come across in LA. It doesn’t try to be trendy or overcomplicated—it just delivers absolutely killer ramen with focus and care. The broth is rich without being heavy, full of layered flavor that makes you slow down and actually taste it. The noodles have that perfect bite—springy, not soggy—and you can tell they’re not phoning it in with any part of the bowl.
I usually go for the signature torisoba, and it never disappoints. The chicken is tender and flavorful, not dry like you sometimes get with chicken ramen. Everything feels balanced—nothing overpowering, no salt bombs, just real depth. You can taste the hours that went into the stock.
Service is quick and polite, and even when it’s busy, it still feels chill. The vibe is cozy, not cramped, and the whole place runs with quiet precision. It’s clear the people running it take pride in the food.
If you’re looking for that one ramen spot to keep in rotation, this is it. No gimmicks, just great...
Read moreThe tori paitan broth is probably one of the best in LA , right up there with Laki ramen. Get the lemon, butter one. Along with a hint of truffles.. the ramen really came together so well. The chunks of chicken in the ramen were white meat. As an Asian, I would have preferred dark meat.
The tan tan men was decent, but I still prefer the lemon butter.
The chicken rice was average. I’ll skip it. The gyoza is decent. A crispier bottom will help. I’ll order it again next time.
The other great thing is there is ‘free’ 1 hour parking at the back. You’ll have to scan the barcode in the restaurant to avail of it.
Overall, I’ll say it is top notch ramen.
Daisuke is always there to share a smile to welcome you. Etsoshi is there some other days.
