Today, 4/28/18 around 3:30p, my son and I went to eat at Wahlburgers in West Hollywood and the service was poor and the food quality certainly has slipped since opening day! First, I don't like it when servers memorize your order because 9 out of 10 times, the order comes back wrong. Print the order on a ticket! This was our 4th visit and each time I've ordered, I always specifically state no sauce on my food yet sure as God makes little green apples, my order during each of those visits, came with sauce. What part of NO SAUCE don't they understand?! 2nd visit, I tried a fish sandwich. I said I didn't want tartar sauce and yep! there was tartar sauce on my sandwich. I had it returned. 3rd visit I ordered a burger, it came with sauce. When it was returned and brought back, it came with a DIFFERENT sauce. After 4 different visits, I have to honestly question: Do the food preparers in the kitchen know how to read a ticket? Do they know how to read or speak English? Are the servers inadequate when they take an order? Or is it simply that the staff members don't give a damn if they get the order right or not? Could it be a lack of managerial supervision and/or training? Today, we sat at the table for nearly 30 min when suddenly our server came to the table to ask us what our order was. . . again as he committed it again to memory. The establishment was NOT as busy as the few times we had gone prior (that should have been a sign). So when the food arrived 15 min later, guess what? We BOTH had asked for no sauce and sure enough, there was sauce on our burgers. We also ordered the mac & cheese with bacon. There was no taste of cheddar cheese, government or otherwise, and the bacon bits were overcooked as if reheated. I've eaten this dish before and the taste was dramatically different. My son ordered the macaroni salad and it was drenched in dressing with an aftertaste of powdered garlic. He had also eaten this before with greater enjoyment. Though the food was horrible, we were both very hungry so we ate it anyway, however we noticed that the sauce on the burger had tasted somewhat bitter. My stomach is now paying for eating this food. . . bad judgment! I have food allergies which is why I prefer not to eat sauces. I can't help wonder what a liability this dining establishment could have when they don't adhere to requested food orders. Why should a patron have to check their food when it is served to make certain that what they've asked for, has been served? I'm certain we are not the only ones who have been disappointed with this lack of care.
As much as I honestly love watching Mark Wahlberg's movies, my son and I will never go back to eat at this establishment. I honestly hope that changes will be made as I'd hate to see Wahlberg lose out on his investment as this place has not been opened that long. We are not avid drinkers, but my guess is, the bar is making enough money to sustain the place. Very dissatisfied with our...
Read moreCompletely disappointed with the experience. Came to the Whiskey a go go to see a show. We were early so my friend and I decided to walk around and see what was around to eat. Coincidentally on the way here he spoke about wanting to eat at Wahlburgers. Low and behold while we're walking around we came upon Wahlburgers and we decider to eat there. We ask to be seated outside. A young man immediately comes out and asks what we would like. We ask for onion rings, water and a coffee. 25 mins go by and nothing. The same guy comes back and says did you need anything else and we said yes. Our coffee, onion rings and water and he said.. Oh they didn't bring it out? We stare at the table wondering if there are plates hiding somewhere on it. He leaves and come back 5 mins later or so and says.... Oh were out of onions rings that's why they didn't come out. Well that would have been nice to know 25 mins ago when we've been sitting outside staring at each other. And nice to know... But seriously.. Where's the coffee and water? Were they chasing the beans to dry and grind them? Because if thats the case I get why it's taking so long to just get coffee and plain water. He takes our order... I asked for the Haddock Burger no tomatoes.... It's comes out and low and behold.... Guess what's on the sandwich? Starts with a "T" ends with an "O" or "E" depending on how you spell it. Yea not the experience we were expecting. We didn't want to be waited on hand and foot but we expected at least a little service. The sad part was that the food wasn't half bad if we'd had a better experience we would be back but were good well find another Burger joint that'll make sure we don't wait forever for our food. And no it was not busy at all. We were seated outside with 2 other parties with plenty of tables. He obviously felt the steam coming off of me because at the end when we asked for the check he let us know he took. 20% off for the wait. I would have preferred better service then have $5 taken off. Wasn't asked for but he obviously felt we...
Read moreFor a burger joint sports bar this place lives up to the hype. Located in Sunset Plaza, West Hollywood. It was clean with a sporty atmosphere. The wait staff were courteous, helpful and efficient. They all greeted me with a smile. I ordered food to go. Wahlburgers met my expectations with a hefty menu that includes Chicken, Portabella, and Haddock sandwiches and Sloppy Joes. Sides and salads, floats, frappes, beverages and desserts too. I ordered a house burger, The Our Burger, and my daughter ordered a specialty burger, The Fiesta Burger which she very much enjoyed. My burger was tasty with a kind of crispy grilled flavor. Nothing fancy here, since I wanted something without a lot of stuff between the buns. This burger suited that craving. Not sure if the fries were fresh hand cut or the frozen variety. The fries were pretty average. I could not tell which sauce "the white or light orange" was actually Paul's special wahl sauce but they both passed my taste buds test, good enough yet not a standout. I also bought the smoked bacon mac 'n cheese which was a little bland. I ordered the Chili too with extra onions and cheese. I could have used a few more onions on top. The Chili was flavorful not "hot" spicy and very similar to my mother-in-laws recipe without a few of her more essential ingredients. If you like Chili, you'll probably want to add this one to your list. I would buy it again. In fact, I will order burgers again from Wahlburgers but this time I'll eat in.
I didn't drive to this location so I'm not sure if there is parking available. It's on busy Sunset Blvd, so if you take an Uber be careful getting in and out of the car. No safe place for the driver to stop. There is another Wahlburgers located at USC Village on Jefferson. Give Wahlburgers a try if you like burgers and sports bars. Californians are a tough crowd to please when it comes to burgers. My first impression was a good one, I like the food at Wahlbugers, looking forward to a...
