I used to live in this park. I have some beautiful memories of this place and some painful ones. It's a strange place to be at 3am, the shadows move weird and the trees change shape. It's almost as if they're breathing. Then again, the entierty of San Pedro has an almost esoteric kinda magic or darkness to it. One time I was looking for nothing in particular in the dumpsters that they keep in the parking lot that separates the upper and lower sections of the park and I opened up one of the dumpster lids and there was a fully grown adult deer inside of it dead and bloated. The smell was horrendous. My reaction was to slam the dumpster lid and walk away gaging on the putrid funes of death. I remember the skin around the deers lips and eys had decomposed, so it was staring wildly at me grinning. I considered that maybe I was hallucinating. I often considered I was hallucinating when strange things would happen there but come the sunrise, I bumped into another homeless person who was talking about it, and he collaborated what i had seen, and smelled. The almost heinous smile that death had brought upon this animals face is still burned in my brain. All things considered, i wouldn't trade the time I spent at this park for anything. In fact, I miss this place, the town and...

Read moreI can literally walk to Peck Park from my home. Many positive encounters here. People should use caution because a sign warns that there are nearby mountain lions. My girlfriend and I once sat in a bench and chose to stay past the open time. Please pay attention to this sign. We started walking away, and as we came closer to the wooden fence, I felt someone or something gazing at us. When I turned around, I saw a large cat patrolling the area. Definitely not my overweight cat and definitely not a dog. Be careful out there. In our backyards, there is a...
