Hollywood Barber Shop — Local services in Los Angeles

I don't write this review lightly because I've actually been going here on & off for a few years now, but today was the last straw!

It's a neighborhood Mexican barber shop that happens to be in Hollywood, nothing more. I started going there because I happen to sport a chin beard that needs occasional grooming & shaping and the more "trendy" places in Hollywood / Silverlake don't do beards. (I'm looking at you, Rudy's.) Before you say anything, I'm Puerto Rican and Cuban from N.Y. & Miami and I can speak a little Spanish.

I'm used to going to "old school" barber shops back East, but the problems with this place are many: no-one speaks English, a couple of the guys are so old their hands shake, they usually have children running around screaming (it seems to double as a day care center) and the television in the corner is usually blasting Telemundo soap operas at full volume.

But I put up with all this on visit after visit because they do beards, but today both my beard and my hair got butchered by one of them. I tried to explain what I wanted, but I ended up looking like a Mexican Dad going to a job interview. It finally dawned on me that the only kinds of haircuts that these guys know how to do are "Dad" haircuts or gang-banger buzz cuts. Absolutely nothing even slightly creative and you couldn't even explain what you want to these guys anyway.

Look, if you speak Spanish or real broke or just need a very simple haircut...GO TO SUPERCUTS!!

Trust me: you'll still have a better experience than this place!! AVOID!!

Been coming to this business for haircuts for over 7 years now consistently. Can’t seem to thank the men and woman who work here enough for always taking care of me and making sure I look my best every other week! I go there specially because of the woman Lucy who is an exellent hair stylist with many years of experience. Lucy has always known how to make look good any hair style I want to try. This is the type of hair stylist that most barbershops need and that the hair stylists should learn from; because there are many times when an individual wants to try a new hair style but the hair style ends up looking horrible and many times the reason is because the hair stylist is not a dedicated one. Lucy is dedicated to her job which she does with passion and takes great responsability in it. But overall all the hairstylist that work in this place are good. It is an A+...
