I came to Shiny Laser Skin Clinic for an assessment several months ago and was recommended to get Pico sure and morpheus8, of which I had several return visits for. The clinician, Debbie, was thoughtful and answered my questioned. I came on a Saturday when it was clearly very busy so I appreciated that she took the time. She also appeared to be very skilled as she was qualified to do trapezius botox which was hard for me to find in Koreatown.
STAFF:
My experience with her and staff nurses Sarah and Kim (I think one more nurse and assistant but I don't have their name, sorry) was exceptional and professional. They always gave due attentiveness to preparing a patient for their chosen procedure. All of them were very conscientious of my level of pain before, during and after assessment and follow up visits. They regularly checked in between intervals of needling to ask me how I was doing. It appeared that everyone was trained to be mindful of patients comfort while balanced with adherence to a plan of care (augment application of pain medication, give breaks, provide aftercare). Efficiency and time spent with patient was adequate and I didn't feel rushed.
APPOINTMENTS AND EASE OF CONTACT:
The clinics appointment booking and scheduling was smooth and no frills. I found it easiest to use their text messaging line. I could make and adjust appointments promptly and got responses quickly, one time even on tbe weekend! Although that isn't expected, I found that to be really impressive. They also texted me back when I had questions regarding keeping my skin sanitized afterwards. Responses appeared appropriate and helped me with my care at home while giving me some peace of mind.
CLEANLINESS:
If there's anything that kept me coming back, it's the level of cleanliness. Tools appeared to be cleaned between sessions. Staff kept hands clean and wore gloves. The treatment beds and some pillows were either plastic wrapped, wiped down or easy to have linen changed. Their bathroom was well kempt and smelled good to me.
Services and pricing:
They offered a wide array of services covering the face and body. I took advantage of a promotion for a combination of Pico sure and morpheus8 that came up to roughly a little more than 3000 which is comparatively reasonable for this area. I appreciated that aftercare is included with a cooling mask and red light was applied to help with inflammation and any mildly acute pain.
RESULTS:
I did trapezius botox as adviced by my physical therapist, and it aided my interventions there but I can't speak on it too much cosmetically, I think it did make my neck and shouders look more slender temporarily.
Prominently, I get many compliments on my skin these days at work and from friends. There's always a 10 day downtime after the procedure where the difference after recovery is stark and pleasing. Afterwards, my skin looks tighter, smoother and more even toned. I liked that Picosure took care of some unwanted freckles. Morpheus8 is likely something I'll keep doing for maintenance to mitigate typical aging, abate sagging and wrinkles. I think this procedure in particular was a good option since I didn't want to lose fat volume in my face but still wanted to aid my skins collagen production as I get older. It's painful but worth it and as I said, the clinic is adept with pain management that I feel comfortable doing it every half year in ideal circumstances. Overall, i recieved excellent care and am so happy that I found a place with this caliber of service in...
Read moreThe Good: I’ve been to several MedSpas and this place has the best nurses. The nurses here are professional, polite, and hospitable.
The Bad: I was receiving the original PicoSure laser treatments every 2 weeks. Most of the time, I did not see any noticeable improvements. After researching online, 2 to 4 weeks is the time required in between treatments. 2 weeks if you receive minimal low intensity laser and 4 weeks if you receive high intensity laser treatments. This made sense to me and explained why I did not notice improvements after most of my treatments every 2 weeks. I was receiving low minimal intensity laser treatments. 1) This benefits the business as patients use up all their treatment sessions faster than if they received laser treatments every 4 weeks. 2) Also, the patient will see less improvements in their skin with low intensity laser than with maximum laser intensity treatments. Both these factors, the time in between sessions and low intensity laser, encourage and motivate patients to purchase more laser treatments to further improve their skin condition.
Ultimately, this business strategy benefits Shiny Laser incredibly and maximizes their earning potential per patient. However, this hurts patients as they will end up spending more money and receive INEFFICIENT TREATMENT, and waste time.
I spent $4,000 on 12 treatment sessions on the original PicoSure laser every 2 weeks. Attached is a photo. I believe the dark spots could have been lighter if I had waited 4 weeks in between treatments and received stronger/deeper laser treatments. I would have saved a lot of money and time as well! The industry of aesthetic treatment is highly lucrative as the profit margins are extremely high.
This business just purchased the ULTRA Pico Laser which requires a longer wait time as its laser intensity is inherently stronger, 4 to 6 weeks in between treatments.
ALL I WANTED WAS THE DARK SPOTS TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY LIGHTER. I still have very dark spots so I asked the consultant how much more it would cost me just to have CO2 laser to improve them. The consultant, Christina, said she would call me to let me know, but I still have not heard from her, which is not...

I went in for a consultation and somehow walked out having dropped over $2,700 on five treatments with PCP. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, they immediately pushed another five sessions on me for an additional $2,500. I never asked about a jawline procedure, but they decided to pitch that too — completely unsolicited. Nothing like getting your self-esteem steamrolled under the guise of “helpful suggestions.”
Truthfully, I wanted to believe in the process. I made the charge, hoping I was investing in something worthwhile.
Fast-forward to my first treatment: I came in nervous, unsure of what to expect. They did nothing to ease that. Christina brought me into a room and started taking photos, without asking, explaining, or even giving me a heads-up. I’m sorry, but that’s just rude. Clear communication should be the bare minimum when someone is vulnerable and new to a procedure.
The treatment itself? Painful. Aftercare consisted of being told to buy their $150 serum, which I declined. I ended up Googling aftercare for microneedling because, honestly, random skincare blogs were more informative than the staff and aftercare piece of paper for which I paid thousands.
I waited a few days to see if my frustration would fade. It didn’t. I paid a premium, and all I expected in return was respect.
The person who drew my blood and the person who provided me with the treatment were nice. I did feel comfortable with them.
I still have four sessions left. Wish me luck. I’ll...
