There's a lot to say about this place. I am very disappointed. There is a Bed-Bug infestation, while Dust Mites have taken over and all the clients have to have several blankets on their bed to keep from being bit. There is a roach infestation and an over abundance of diseases and drugs in this place. There is a HUGE Theft issue (the majority of the workers who work there, LIVE there, and do a lot of the Thievery.) Its a lot of bad, dark politics that sweep and slither thru this place. If you dare complain, you will be threatened by staff that "you will be exited." The staff will straight up call you a liar and have you dismissed out of the program if you dare repeat something they said or done that will cause them to be fired. The biggest issues that I have is how these people treat these homeless people that they are suppose to be helping. They cuss at them, yell at them, manipulate them and keep them dummied down and in the dark.. I dont like that people are not REALLY being helped.. the program seemingly has been taken over by crooks whose only concern is make it seem like the business is "Popping" and "Thriving" when really no one and I mean no one is benefiting from this program layout. The only exception is the fact they give you a bed to sleep in, that's not even clean I might add. There's leaks everywhere, the plumbing is bad to worse. out of 20 some odd showers only 4-5 of them work. It smells constantly, there's mountains of dust all over the ceiling vents. The dorms where the men sleep is a qauranteen of disease and sickness as the skidrow shelter beds and the program beds are in the same room. Alot of the food is expired and they serve chicken, white rice and beans almost everyday either for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all 3 in a day, sometimes everyday. Worse then all this, there isn't a working system that paves a way of success for the clients. Everybody wanna be known for donating money, and have they name plastered on the wall, but who does what with that money once donated is the difference between vision or vanity, success or failure, or growth or greed. When I tried to suggest reconstructing the program outline or layout a little to include more discipline, more responsibility, more services, and a customer service oriented atmosphere, I was shunned away and was told by Larry Love and other staff in that circle around me that day "thats not going to happen; our program is not written to help grow people and nurture there mental health or teach them anything... we were told not to not give advice or give any information to clients." It was when I started speaking life and destiny, and giving some clients motivation and a focus and to simply leave them words that help them dedicate to themselves in a deeper way, I was despised and told im doing too much and I need to stop talking or its not gonna go well for me here. I was also threatened to be exited out of the program for my...
Read moreI appreciate the prompt response to the situation at hand; however, I must address the discrepancy between the stated mission and services provided by your organization. While you assert that your staff is dedicated to assisting participants, it is concerning that individuals in your shelter are reportedly going without essential services such as case management and housing leads for extended periods of time, such as the 60-day timeframe mentioned. Given that LAHSA likely funds this program, it is imperative to ensure that their intended scope of work is being executed effectively. In addition, the assertion of safety within your shelter is called into question by reports of weapons on the premises, the perceived prison-like atmosphere, and the recent tragic incident that occurred in front of the location. These circumstances not only compromise the well-being of participants but also suggest a failure to maintain the healthy environment you claim to foster. As an organization that purports to provide comprehensive support, it is paramount that steps be taken to ensure the safety and security of all individuals involved, including participants, staff, and volunteers. In light of these concerns, I urge the CEO and Board of Directors to take swift and decisive action to address these issues and reevaluate the implementation of the organization's mission...
Read moreOvercrowded. Small food portions. Horrible neighborhood full of dope and violence like no other ive ever seen. But yea, free food-thats cool. I just wish they helped me get an apartment or a hot shower without an id. Showers are cold and i got beat up in the bathroom. Endless crime outside; i got beat up there as well. Nights sleeping outside in front of the mission are filled with endless drug deals, violence, and gross zombies. I guess i could put up with all of the above so long as the showers were hot. But they aren't. On the positive side they are open almost all the time. Word of advice: don't make any friends with the homeless in the vicinity. They are psychos, undercover bi-polar fools that will fight you and yell in your face. One guy almost fought me for not watching his backpack. Getting back on track: the overnight beds are limmited and overcrowded. I only go to this neighborhood if i am starving. I really should rate it at 1 star. Nontheless MM ends starvation when panhandling doesen't work. The police are also mean. The tv room is hot, overcrowded and stinks like straight bo. Endless crack smoking in the bathroom. This place blows. I hate drugs. For those volunteering it might be 5 stars, but homeless living in front of it with no id its -5. I just appreciate the food; its not a home cooked...
