Like many first time moms, I felt an enormous amount of anxiety over where and how I wold give birth. For months, I went back and forth on whether i wanted to give birth at home or in a hospital. I interviewed doctors, midwives, doulas, etc., and spent a good amount of time exploring various options. But every time, I found I felt the most supported by Dr. Aparna Sridhar at UCLA Westwood. Every question I had, she took her time in answering (even when I asked it three times). And whether my questions had to do with environment, interventions, philosophies, or practices, time and time again I was impressed by UCLA's stance. To me, they seemed to follow an evidence-based approach that balanced the health and safety of the baby with the comfort/experience of the mom. Even still, I wasn't sure how things would pan out when I actually checked into the hospital... It's now been two weeks since the birth of my daughter, and every day I've felt grateful for the experience I had at UCLA Westwood. From the care provided by the labor/delivery nurses (in particular, a huge thank you to April for her compassion and keeping me centered/present throughout my labor) to the importance placed on my birth intentions/plan to the incredible care provided by Dr. Sridhar, and finally, the resources and support provided by the nurses postpartum (in particular, a huge thank you to Jossalynn for her guidance around nursing and postpartum life as a whole), there is nothing we would change about our daughter's entry...
Read moreThe entire staff during my stay went above and beyond to ensure I had the best care. My night nurse, Melissa, was incredibly patient and thorough when I was admitted during labor, attending to my every need with genuine care. My day shift nurse, Stephanie R., was incredible, making my labor and delivery a positive and safe experience. Her support was invaluable! Kristen H., the resident, was also a phenomenal addition to the care team during labor. Her empathy and encouragement throughout the process leading to the birth elevated my overall experience. Every staff member made me feel confident and secure.
As a first-time mom, I was deeply pleased with the exceptional care I received throughout my stay. This experience of giving birth was wonderful, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital Westwood BirthPlace location. I am grateful for the kindness shown by...
Read moreMy baby had lost 5% of his birth weight by the time we left and his bilirubin spike but they and the pediatrician on duty never warned us of anything or that his condition was more susceptible to jaundice. They Refused to give us formula when we ask for it. One black nurse even said I was over feeding. Please don’t ever go here especially as a first time mum unless you want your kid to be possibly brain damaged from not drinking enough, they don’t provide a good level of care in their postpartum wards. They enforced exclusive breastfeeding because they don’t want to have to spend money giving you the formula. One nurse said she had to chart it?! So??? If you have to check back into ER even better for phototherapy even better. All they want is your money.
It makes me so mad. I had my second child at another hospital and I really felt respected and...
