If there were zero stars it would be a compliment for this operation Stay away is the best advice. I unfortunately fell for the web site description and pictures. What a joke!! I checked into the Alfred House on 2/19/18 and finally escaped 3/14/18, leaving a balance of money for the remainder of the month.
I moved in with 2 small and older dogs. Granted, there were accidents that I attended to immediately. The flooring is tile so no issues with damage. Upon cleaning up the small messes, I noticed the paper towels were black from dirt and grime ground into the tiles. I made mention to the Operations Manager, even offering to rent a steam cleaner at my own expense and clean the entire house. That offer went on a draft ear. The problems got worse.
Doing a little inspection, I noted and photographed mold and mildew on the bathroom floor, shower and wall tiles. Additionally, the corner of the shower wall was covered with disgusting mold. I became concerned with the potential health hazard and began showering at the gym. As there seemed little care by the owner for the filthy floor tiles in other areas of the house, I assumed little would be done to remedy the mold issues. On another occasion, the shower floor in the large bathroom was backing up. I plunged the floor and sickening black backwash arose from the drain. I reported this to the house manager and the non-work fix was pouring drain cleaner and shutting the shower down for over 24 hours. About a week later, I opened the shower to find at least 3 inches of dirty black water backed up. I also checked the bathtub to find the same. Again, I re[ported the issues to the house manager. They finally called a plumber. This was a Sunday. The shower and bathtub were not accessible until Thursday the following week. That left one small bathroom for the 10 residents and 3 staff members reasoning in the home (yes, one bathroom for 13 people).
This seemed to come as big surprise when confronting the owner, Ashlee for money back for non used rent and a pet deposit. Again, no damage occurred from pet accidents attended to immediately. Additionally, there were 2 other dogs occupying the house. Obviously, as you might guess, she has no intention of refunding money.
My advise is to steer clear of any Chateau Recovery in Southern California. By the way, I will also write a review for Yelp and include time...
Read moreHayes House is amazing and by far the best managed and we'll kept sober living house iv experienced. I never expected to get everything I have during my stay there. The house is ALWAYS clean and tidy, especially in the areas that count( kitchen & bathrooms). WestWind overall is a phenomenal program, where your more than just a dollar sign. They truly care and put forth the effort to not just tell you that sobriety can be fun and enjoyable, but take your hand and show you. Through Westwind and the family I formed at Hayes House I was able to get a piece of myself back that I thought was forever lost, and for that, I am forever greatful. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is struggling and needs help. There are people out there who...

I feel like I’m part of a huge dysfunction family! LOL This house and the support I get here makes staying sober easy. I was having a really hard time with depression and insomnia before moving in just a few weeks ago.... now I’m finally sleeping and I am (happy) doing way better with mental health... for me, it was this house and the support and love that has made a difference! Life is good here at Hayes! So grateful to be apart of this house. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good sober...
