Club Luxor — Restaurant in Lubbock

I wanted to like Luxor, but I found it impossible. First, the place is not disability friendly. There were stairs everywhere, too narrow corridors, and no handicap restroom. So to enjoy the club, you must be able-bodied. Second, the club atmosphere was weird. The place smelled stale and funky. The interior was industrial modern but looked to have been done 30 years ago. The place looked more shabby than chic. Third, the sound system was so loud that you couldn't talk to friends. And once the smoke machine was turned on, everything became obscured. No one was dancing, nothing was happening. People sat about looking at their phones in a supremely loud and dusky setting. Finally, the restrooms were ridiculous. They were so small that if you closed the door, your legs wouldn't fit. They were clean, at least. In the end, my party didn't stay. Well, this is the best and only alt-nightlife club in the Lubbock area that I know. Just because it is the only one, doesn't mean they let things slip. Every Friday there is a drag show and different themes(be sure to check facebook); occasionally Saturdays also have a show that is a different theme from Friday. Great place to hang out and meet many wonderful different people and interact with the performers. Disappointed with advertised activities. Was not really a drag show, but rather another event hosted by drag queens. Still fun, but not what was expected from the event flyers. Entire building is problematic with lots of steps, difficult to see the stage/dance floor and awkward seating. Was not a fan of the DJ either night I was there.
