Yeah I've been here before and had a great experience, but I'll never come here again. Got my hair done by Reba. She was very sweet, but all she did was sit me in the chair, pin my hair up layer by layer, took each layer down and cut straight across. That's it. I have fine and fragile hair. When she washed it afterwords, she was very rough and was pulling pieces of hair out of the front of my scalp. I thought she'd go through and even everything out/trim it up after it was wet, but she didn't. I still tipped her a 20. And paid 55 for the cut. When I got home and styled it, my bangs were heavy and everything looked uneven. All I told her was I wanted to keep it the same length and just wanted my dead ends off. She cut like 4 inches lol regardless, I sent an email that I wanted it fixed and made sure to say Reba was very wonderful I just didn't like the cut. The next day, guy named Alex is supposed to fix my hair. I wait 20 minutes passed my appointment time to be seen. Then when he sits me down lol he does nothing but give me a hard time. Clearly someone was offended I didn't like the cut. He didn't say anything positive or anything to make me feel good at all. He just stared at me a lot like I was stupid and he kept bringing up how he was afraid to touch my hair because I was initially shocked at how short she cut it. Like dude, it's short now and I just have to deal with it? Can't glue the hair back on? So just FIX IT?? And all he did was lay it in front of my shoulders and talk me in circles. He asked what I didn't like about it and I said "it's lobby" as in "long bob" reference and he acted like he didn't understand what I was talking about. He also made statements that made it seem like there was nothing wrong with my cut, but while he was talking he was going through and trimming it up. Seriously. He fixed it after giving me a hard time. I even at one point said "idk maybe i'm crazy" which fully fits the criteria of a hairstylist gaslighting you. I sat down and he could clearly see the style didn't frame my face nicely, how I know this is he finally said "IT DOESNT FRAME YOUR FACE"after 10 mins of going back and forth. He cut off more of my bangs and he evened out the ends of my hair. Thats all I wanted. I was very nice to everyone and just wanted it fixed. I'm a single mother who doesn't get to do anything for herself ever and it had been a year since I had a cut. It wasn't worth what I paid. I still tipped Alex 20 bucks too even though he didn't deserve it because of his stuck up attitude. This is a place that wants to look upscale and professional on the outside but is actually lacking the tools to be so on the inside. I also realize mostly old ladies go here. No wonder they have an almost 5 star rating. Poor customer service. Poor service all around. Will never come here again and will leave this review up forever. Thanks. Im posting a before and after of my hair after Reba initially cut it. Just left it the way it was and went to work lol. Alex...11 years? Really? And you have an attitude like that? Truly sad. Would also like to note that I've never in my entire 30 years of life gone back to a hair salon for a cut I didn't like...so the fact that I felt compelled to go back said a lot and the experience was terrible. And I lost basically 100 bucks.
**My bad. His name is Eric. A couple people I work with know him and showed me his picture on FB to verify it was him. Must've mixed up the name somehow. He was still rude. And it is mostly old ladies in there each time I've went. And I love how who ever wrote back to me felt so compelled to clear that up with their sarcastic little "
Read moreI thought long before I decided to actually write this review. Multiple people that I have shown my hair to have requested that I do it. I came to Sage Tryall to get a blonde balayage. I started off telling the women doing my hair the things I hated about my hair. I previously had my hair lightened at another salon before attempting to go to Sage for a blonde balayage. With that, it should have been easier to attempt because my hair was light. After the coloring and blow drying there was no "Omg! I love it!" Instead, I was told, "I'll be right back." After sitting there for 10 minutes I looked around and noticed several employees looking at my hair and talking about it. My hair had come out a brassy blotchy mess. I was then approached by another hair stylist who explained that we could either leave it the way it was or throw a gloss on top of it. Of course, I did not want my hair to be brassy and have bleach blots in it, so I said let's put a gloss on it. It was a little better but not anything like the blonde balayage I had requested. I left and was depressed about spending over 300 dollars for hair that was not great. I received a phone call after I left a review the next day offering to fix my hair complementary. I also went to my husband's hairdresser and she informed me of what went wrong. She said they took the bleach out too fast and that it was clear they had started with the back and worked their way to the top because the underneath was more light than the top. I took off work to get my hair fixed and returned to this salon. While getting my hair done for the second time I asked if I was charged for the gloss thrown on my hair the previous time and was told yes. The girl who redid my hair was super sweet and I'm sure she does a fine job with hair. None of this is her fault. However, I have brown hair now. All over brown that received damage in the process of trying to be blonde. I'm truly upset that I was not told by the original hair stylist that she did not think she could achieve blonde balayage. I'm upset that I was charged for gloss to "fix" my hair. I'm upset that I took time off work to try and have my hair fixed to only end up with brown. The women at my work and everyone I know have said you need to leave a review, so people know not to go there for blonde. And everyone is appalled that I paid 300 dollars for this hair. I've asked so many people about my hair and they just think I was taken...
Read moreI had had some work done by Ariella two times while there and she did a wonderful job. I was getting my roots touched up and being a red head, I needed her to pull the color through some sections of my hair to blend the new color to the old color. WELL.... I tried to get an appointment with her again but she was booked. The owner of the salon Ms. Tryall, was the one available to do my hair and I figured the owner would know what she's doing. BOY WAS I WRONG!
She colored my roots, did not pull it through, and the color was much different than it looked with Ariella did my hair. The end result was roots that were bright red and the rest of my hair being a lovely coppery shade.
While in the chair I asked if it would blend in better or if it was just the lighting. Ms. Tryall avoided my question and kept working. I went home disappointed and 65 bucks poorer. Two days later I returned because I was VERY disappointed with the way it looked. Not only did the lady at the front desk tell me that she didn't even remember me, but then Ariella and Ms. Tryall both lied saying that they NEVER pulled color through my hair the first few times and that I just needed a full color which would start at $120.
When I had had my hair colored by Ms. Tryall, I watched as she threw away a lot of color that she could have used to pull through my hair to blend the color. But she wouldn't do that because since they had earned their certification (from some test they had to take) they no long pull color through because that is considered a highlight.
Anyhow, I am VERY disappointed with them. Not only did they tell me that they didn't remember me, but then they said that I lied about what they did, and then said to fix it, it would cost $40.... Also they will NOT give refunds if you are disappointed in their services, and do not give out the formulas for the color they use.
Don't go here if you believe that companies should work with their customers if they are unhappy with their provided services.
From now on I drive all the way home to Wytheville, Va. to go to a lady who has NEVER messed up my hair and if she would, I know she would fix it for free.
They not only lost my business, but also the business of my boyfriend, sister, and since I work in retail and often get comments on how lovely my hair is, I also tell them NOT...
