My experience was not one I'd want to happen to anyone. I setup an online event for all of my groomsmen to get the same suit coat and pants at MW. Each one went to MW and was met with being told that MW is unsure what suit they are supposed to get, so I had to send them all pictures of the suit and the name in order for them to get the correct one. A couple of the guys said they had to wait around two hours just to get fitted. I called MW and their response to this was telling me that the online events setup is run by a 3rd party and is not very accurate, its best to setup events in the store. If this is the case, then why offer something that is broken? After their suit measurements were taken, the suits would be made and shipped to the store. Their suits were being shipped to a store in Manassas, VA, close to where my wedding was happening. If things could become anymore difficult, one of my groomsmen went to the store to try on his suit and pick it up the day before the wedding. His suit coat was so tight he could not button it closed. The seating in the trousers was so low it was hanging down to his knees. They told him they would have this corrected and ready for him to pick up the morning of the wedding day. He called that morning and they told him that the suit didn't come in and there's no other options for him. Imagine not having one of your close friends standing up there with you at our ceremony because of this! I called the store and they told me the same thing. I asked if they called any other MW stores in the area to see if they have anything else he could wear instead, and they hadn't but said they would begin too. I called Joseph A Banks and while they didn't have the matching suit, they flat out just offered to let us borrow a suit from them at no charge, just so that he could have a suit for our wedding. The manager at the MW said whoever did the measurements at the Cary store did a horrible job, and sorry. That's the best. MW really needs to make sure they have people that know how to take measurements and should have tailors that they partner with to make suit adjustments for instances exactly like this. This was a horrible experience, bad service on their behalf to help with the situation, and just unacceptable service provided for such an important event. You should be more...
Read moreLet me start with the positives I have to say about this particular Men's Wearhouse in Manassas, VA. The staff who assisted me in choosing the pair of tuxedos I purchased were easy to work with. Prices were what I expected $300+ despite being on "sale". The problems began when I wanted to swap out the pants that came with the 'set' of jacket/pant. The management refused to do it, so I essentially bought a 2nd pair of pants I did not need. The store manager, Jeff explained that the set is 'married' and cannot be sold separately from the jacket nor exchanged for a better fitting pair of pants. Additionally, despite the receipts stating a 90 day return policy - it states in fine print it is ultimately up to the store manager. I am unable to return the pants I do not need.
The other incident is about finding a tuxedo with tails. I needed the most formal of tuxedos with tails, and the only way to get this was through their rental service. I wanted to purchase and was told I could "lose" the tuxedo and pay the replacement fee of $200. No problem- and I was told by THREE people including the initial salesman, the rental clerk, and Jeff- the store manager that this was inclusive of the jacket, vest, and bow tie. I did not need pants, nor shoes and this was agreed to with a handwritten note on my receipt. When the time came to pay the replacement fee- it was close to $300. The jacket itself is $200, the vest another $60, and bow tie $20- plus tax. This was unacceptable and I was told they never agreed to this deal despite being shown the receipt with their own handwriting. Regional management was no help either. Maybe corporate would care to hear my story- if not- no big deal- I'm so angry I'm almost considering simply buying out the branch and shutting down the store.
Jeff is a businessman after money, nothing else. Unfortunately, he screwed the wrong person who happens to have a lot of it and I will be taking my consumer needs elsewhere. I will also be forwarding my experience to all of my colleagues/coworkers- who frequently purchase suits and tuxedos.
Edit: Let me add that the store also did not notify me when the coattails did arrive- I had to call them to find if they had gotten the inventory yet. Also, please let me iterate that this is not a money issue, but a customer service issue...
Read moreThis is probably the worst MW that I have ever been in. I went in to get fitted for a suit and pick out some suits for my Groomsmen to wear for my wedding. The process has been an absolute nightmare. First off, the person put in the wrong SKU numbers into the system, so my guys didn't buy the shoes and belt that we wanted. I only realized this mistake when one of my G-men texted me a picture of what he bought. It also turns out that the shoes and belt that were entered into the system (INCORRECTLY) are in short supply, so not all of them may be able to get them. When I brought this mistake to the manager's attention, I was met with a snappy and less than empathetic attitude. Then she proceeded to tell me that none of G-men had made purchases yet anyway, to which I confirmed with 90% of them that they had. More attitude to come after that.
I was also told that when my suit was finished getting tailored, I would receive a call. That never happened, so finally after about 2 months, I called the store and was informed that my suit had been ready for about a month. Appreciate that.
Overall abysmal experience from start to finish. Just in-case I needed a few extra things to stress about while planning a wedding. If a mistake was made and they were willing to work with me to correct it, that would've been one thing, but instead I was met with attitude and an overall persona of disinterest. I don't plan to ever step back into this store and I suggest you save yourself the headache and head...
