Minnesota Hair — Local services in Maplewood

I went here with my friends for her wedding hair styles and she was getting her hair done by Sue the owner. First for my friend's trial the woman was very pushy with the hairstyle and had a very "I know better than you" attitude. She tried to curl her hair realized it wouldn't curl well and said she needed to put windex in her hair to clean out all the the wax. She pretty much piled it on her head and said "don't worry it will be fine on the day." Then proceeded to tell us she would only have an hour with us on the day to do hairstyles. I've never heard that at any salon before and while I know they have a time schedule to keep I was very nervous to have heard that. On the day she forgot a few aspects that were talked about at the trial and after my friend had used special shampoo to get the wax out she still couldn't get the curls to stay and didn't have the forethought to put her hair in rollers (probably because that would take over an hour.) Once she got to me I asked for a loose bun with some wisps of hair. I couldn't see myslef through ony of the process and once I was finished I had a tight side bun of punned curls and some knots and a braid on the side of my head. It was a disaster and I had to do take my hair out and redo it. Granted both of these were with Sue who has 30 years of expereince and knows much more than anyone else. All of the othr women were very nice and the other bridesmaids did not have problems so by all means go but don't ever use Sue unless you want to pay to...

I scheduled a consultation with Stacy as I was interested in doing something drastically different with my hair and wanted some suggestions. I took some Pinterest pictures in with me for ideas on haircut and color. Stacy was very friendly, helpful and and gave me some great ideas. I was disappointed to find out that she couldn't stay to do my "transformation" but she referred me to Sharon. After consulting with Sharon and finding out that the color I originally wanted to change to wasn't going to work well for me, we decided to do a full foil and cut with long layers and bangs (which I haven't had for 20 years). I couldn't be happier with the results! The style took at least ten years away from my face (I'm 61), and I absolutely love all of the different brightening, summery colors in my hair. Thank you, Stacy, for the great consultation and thank you, Sharon, for all of the time you took making my cut and color just what I needed to give me that added boost of confidence in my look. I will definitely be a return customer at Minnesota Hair...

Sherry and Stacy, the owners, are awesome!!! I drive almost an hour just to have them cut my hair. I've tried other places and people closer to my home, but alway go back to Minnesota Hair. Whether it's been a year or 3 months, they greet me with a smile and have records of what we've done in the past so I can say, "kind of like last time but can we add some more layers?" And I get exactly what I wanted! Yes they have a bunch of products, but I've never been pushed to buy them. If anything, it's "Here, try this and let me know what you think." Love...
