I left work mid-day and drove there; there was a tropical rainstorm just throwing down. And, despite my efforts; I got destroyed. Totally soaked. (I was also there yesterday(the Kaos Gamer Lounge)and learned that they had boxes of the new Pokemon set. But, even though the set’s official release was last week, I was told to come back today and wait for the owner to personally sell it to me. So, I drive back to this place again today. And, I’m standing there soaking; the clerk calls the owner. Now he’s whispering on the phone with him about whether they will or won’t be selling to me. Literally whispering. He hangs up and informs me that they won’t.
A few years ago when this place opened, I frequented it a few times. I live very close by. But every time a new set was released or shortly after, I see the packs for the set on sale in the store … but marked up above MSRP.
I know there’s a lot of scalpers buying this game. But, I don’t buy a lot of product, I actually play the game. I was going to buy a small amount. One little box. But, the owner just said that all the Pokemon product is spoken for.
Since my initial bad taste introduction to this place, I made a decision to avoid the Kaos lounge and for the last few years, I did. I normally drive miles out of my way to go to another store, because this place had originally opened with the constant mark ups; taking advantage of Pokemon market and taking advantage of players like myself. I don’t appreciate giving them this second chance and being treated like my business isn’t good enough. I’m not like many of these gambling addicts lining up to get as much product as possible; just to flip it on tcg or eBay; I’m a player. Isn’t that the point? There are other card shops in the area and I’ll be certain to bring my business there. By the way; I don’t go around leaving bad reviews everywhere I go. But, had to
—— Weeks later they respond…
I just read this ChatGPT response. Yes my review was critical, because it’s deserved. Don’t be fooled by this spam. They treated me like trash until they read this review; they had so much inventory they wouldn’t share with me; and they are, despite the tone of their AI response, a den of scammers who are satisfied with flipping expensive cards and not a group of players who love to play the game in good company. If you enjoy playing and want to avoid the seedy side of gambling addicted card houses; there are many and much better options...
Read moreI’m not the type to write reviews but this one was a first. Got there a little before they typically open and Tried making an offer on some cards, guy said he was new and couldn’t help with any offers because he hadn’t eaten any food yet and doesn’t feel like negotiating due to him not eating. Also said the owner wasn’t there. I would’ve understood if the owner wasn’t there but to make an excuse that you haven’t eaten so you can’t listen to any offers and make time to negotiate is beyond me. Could’ve at least texted the owner and asked but maybe that’s too much effort I guess. Also made it a point he wasn’t being paid for helping me when I asked if he could go lower on some cards because I was...
Read moreThis shop is the best hands down. When I wanted to learn about card games I decided to check them out. I was received with open arms, and smiles. They explained the intricate rules with patience and helped me get started. There are always games going on at the store and everyone is welcome to join in. They have weekly events and their selection of products is second to none. No matter what type of tabletop game you’re looking for you will find it at this shop. From Magic the Gathering to D&D or Warhammer, plus all other TCGs. The owner is often present, playing with the patrons and everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t recommend this store enough. If I could I’d give...
