We purchased an Orthopedic Super Pillow Top Mattress (rated medium firmness) from this store after testing it out in person. When we made the purchase in September, we were told that the name of the mattress had just been changed but were assured that it was still the same mattress. What we received was the Orthos Ultra Pillow Top Mattress (rated very soft). Its significantly softer than the mattress we tested at the store, with so little support that my partner and I sink in and roll into the middle even though its brand new. The manufacturers changed more than just the name of the mattress - this feels like a completely different product than what we had tried. Terrible experience with customer service and the mattress itself. We purchased their "top of the line" king pillow top mattress to only be in pain and agony 3 years later to the point that we can no longer sleep a whole night on the mattress. We spent over $1,000 and were tricked into buying a pillow topper and new frame from them as well, which did not fix any issues. We have complained and had a technician come out to only tell us that they don't guarantee level of comfort on the mattress. I have read through pages of reviews of customers with the same complaints and want Original Mattress Factory to own up to their fault and refund their customers. Excellent advice but high prices. Use this store to decide on type and softness of mattress but then consider buying elsewhere. $5000 was way more than we wanted to spend.

Elsewhere, Bought a different mattress for under $1000. Not quite as firm but much more affordable foam mattress.

Be sure to read reviews on mattresses online. Some online stores allow trials for up to a whole year. Some firm mattresses are actually soft, depending on manufacturer.

When I purchased a mattress a few years ago I used a tactic of telling them how much I actually could spend, on my way out, and they came down to that price as I slowly walked out. That probably only works at owner operated stores, but I still own my $350 mattress...
