Planning is key to your 5 star experience in this small Walmart (that's competing against a huge WinCo right next door!)
First, the cons:
-For the very health concerned who cook from scratch or buy many fresh food/veg, this is not the place to do your major grocery shopping in Mcminnville. -It is almost always cramped (people, and pallets, and piles) and pretty difficult to move around in many parts of the store - especially with a cart, or driving a cart. -Bring your bags!!! They don't sell 10¢ bags like everyone else, but they have a wide array of $1+ bags for sale you can purchase (every single time you forget them at home! ... we're human after all!)
Now, what I see as the major Pros:
-Pricing can be very good - especially if you go online to see what they have in stock and know the features of an item you need before setting foot inside (I was able to score a terrific table-top fan in the dead heat of summer that was selling for an additional $20 at Amazon's lowest price, if you could snag it in time and it's the best fan I've ever owned and has a 5 year warranty, I paid $30 instead of $50+). -Employees are nice and helpful, most especially so! -The pharmacy is doing their very best for customers, even with complicated needs, and still they battle the current shortage of skilled workers without taking it out on the already uncomfortable customer/patient. -They do have some fresh food and some organic/gluten free, etc. Just a little. -There are great clearance items if you want to do a bit of treasure hunting. Pickup service is really great. Why don't I use it more? Maybe I'll change that... I haven't tried their delivery.
Walmart has never been my favorite place to shop (except when feeding my family for the lowest rock bottom price is a necessity and other store options were almost non-existent where I lived). I disagree (strongly) with many corporate practices and strategies.
However, as a grocery store that serves a community that doesn't have a truly first rate one stop shop for the penny pinching, health paranoid, gourmet-aspiring, medication taking, pet owning consumer who sometimes needs toilet paper, cat litter, dog food, coconut milk, a team of printer paper, and a new pack of cotton underwear that actually fits at 930pm on a Wednesday night, this store does all that and more better than anyone else in this town, and for that,...

In May of 2020, I found myself being a current employee of Walmart. My fellow co-workers seem to be strangers to me. I have not met Sean, who is in-charge, during my work shifts so far. I am usually working out on the floor directly with customers. Some co-workers seem to be alien.
One employee asked me to stop bothering his employees or workers in the employee area. I do not know who this is or what he is talking about.
I got to see some names and speak to co-workers in the break room and out on the floor.
On one shift, on about May 15th, 2020 or May 17th, 2020 and past the employee door in the photo center, I see two individuals. They ask me if I am Jovani. I confirm.
One individual is an individual who asks me about a shopping cart earlier in my brief career. That individual was dismissive earlier because I had no idea what he was talking about. This happens near the unloading area.
Anyways, One of these two motions his/her finger at me and directs me into one of the rooms. They instructed me to enter the room and to have a seat. I do, they close the door and they also have a seat.
The three of us seem to be alone at this time. The room was filled with equipment and chairs. I am just an employee so I follow directions.
This is what I hear and am verbally spoken to. “What’s going on?” At this POINT I am being interrogated. I am being questioned.
Long story short they tell me that someone was feeling uncomfortable. I am calling it what it is now. This is an accusation. This is an accusation Walmart has not been held to account to. Apparently, that is Sean. Sean likes to use that finger.
This is an update. This is a hearing of SUSPECTED criminal activity at Walmart. AFTER the fact, they contacted someone innocent by the...
Read morePlease stop putting older people who know nothing in the electronics department. I was just argued with by an older woman that my iPhone had a usb-C cord (I use these for my laptop so I’m not confused) and that I was asking for the wrong thing by asking for a USB-LIGHTNING CABLE for an IPHONE. I told her, this iPhone has a lightning cable, and I held it out for her to look but she would not. And said, “I’m telling you, come over here and look at this USB-C ma’am you’re wrong.” It was absolutely shocking that it was even happening.
I finally said that I don’t know how to explain it to her a third time if she wasn’t listening, and that I was not going to pursue buying one at Walmart anymore because of this experience, wished her a good day and began to leave. She screamed “I’LL PRAY FOR YOU” at my back as I entered apparel which was actually really upsetting and disrespectful the way she said it. I did not appreciate it. It felt cowardly. I will not ever buy electronics at wal mart again and as a local this was my go to spot. In fact I’ve spent well over 2k this year so far alone on TV’s, gaming systems, and phone accessories. I’ll gladly drive to Newberg for an iPhone charger or anything else over this experience. Stop putting boomers in the electronics department, and if you do please let them know that it’s possible the customers know more about what they are asking for than them, and ask them to be willing to learn. And do not shout religious things at me. Do NOT. It is inappropriate and disrespectful to use that as a final insult to someone walking away from you. It’s the opposite of the ideology you’re representing with...
