I do not recommend this location due to an issue with an out-of-network dentist and inappropriate charges. I went in for a regular cleaning, and it was recommended I get a scaling treatment. I inquired how much I would pay out-of-pocket with my insurance, and I was told I would have to pay extensively out-of-pocket for the expense. I received the scaling and paid the bill. When I received my notice from Cigna of how much I was supposed to pay, it showed I was overcharged by $180 for services for out-of-pocket expense. I called the office, and I was told that they would resubmit it correctly for me to get a refund. I was told to wait a few weeks and check back. I called back a few weeks later, and I was told the person who was supposed to have submitted no longer worked there. The new person stated it would be submitted for a refund. I checked back a few weeks later, and it was not submitted. I then asked to speak with the Office Manager, and she shared they had gone through a lot of changes at this location and apologized. She stated that she would resubmit it, and to check back in a few weeks. This pattern has gone on for 8 months. I was just informed this week by Cigna that the Poplar location keeps submitting dentists who are in-network but not for the day I went or for that location. The Poplar office stated that the dentist they were charging the services to was out-of-network at the time, and they did just realized this was the case. I was recently told that I am basically just out of luck, and it is a Cigna issue. For a customer of this location for several years, I cannot believe the lack of concern or follow up by both the Poplar location staff or the Office Manager. I literally had to call three or four times to even speak with the Office Manager who manages several of the American Family Dentistry locations in Memphis. It appears I will not be refunded the $180 dollars after at least 15 calls and months of follow up. Extremely poor customer service and follow through for a long term customer of...
Read more.Amber is very unprofessional and very rude and very un kind . The receptionist that sits in back first name start with a B . is very unprofessional rude she hung up in my face I spoke with Amber about it and her response was no she did not anytime a person doesn't say bye at the end of a call is a hang up to me. I was harassed by the receptionist about a bill that supposed to have been taken care of through my insurance. The receptionist that sits in the back first letter of her name is B. Threatened to take monies off my card which I know could not be done without my consent. That conversation was mentioned to Amber and she did not say anything to the receptionist about that . I will say thou the people in the back was much nicer. I thought I made a good choice choosing to have dental service there but clearly I did not and also I see on the reviews I'm not the only one that has posted a bad review about the receptionist. I'm sure Amber knows what is going on with the receptionist. But she doesn't care because she is just as rude and ugly to the patients as well because after talking with her about the receptionist that I had a complaint about I felt that I had gotten no where with her . And also I saw for myself and heard for my self how the receptionist that sits in second chair talk to patients. I thought by my looking at her to let her know I see her and hear her that her tone of voice would change how I heard her speaking to patients when she was calling and talking to them...
Read moreUnacceptable and very shady practice. I have been a patient of Dr. Salomonâs for over 20 years. I followed him to AFD when he closed his personal practice. He just retired and I was told that Dr. Thomas Patterson would be taking over my care.
Well after my experience this morning, AFD has just lost my entire family and I as patients. Dr. Solomon would never have treated me this way or tried to come up with âbogusâ charges.
I just paid for x-rays when I was there in February. I wasnât told or informed prior- just told it would be $318 today for a brand new set of X-rays that I HAD to get in order to have my teeth cleaned. If I had been told on the phone prior I would have to do a massive amount of x-Rays it would have been different.
Itâs like I showed up and they decided to add these bogus things I donât need. I honestly donât mind paying for X-rays , but I just did them in February and Iâm not dropping over $300 for new ones that ARENâT NEEDED.
They refused to even clean my teeth unless I paid for the xrays. That is ridiculous. They even said they have them in my chart and understand I have no issues with my teeth but that is their policy.
Funny when Salomon was there this didnât happen. I wasted my entire morning dealing with these idiots đ all for nothing. Iâve heard bad things about shady charges before at AFD. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
