Okay, short version first: “Great location, plenty of space, enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff, good membership program, and excellent selection!”
Long version: my wife and I have been Game Universe regulars for several years. Since moving back to the northern suburbs, we haven’t had any store close to us that caters to our hobbies and offers an extensive selection. We were thrilled to hear Game Universe would be coming to Mequon, and that only intensified when we stopped in.
Hobbyists and gamers will have no trouble finding what they’re looking for, here. The painting section alone had me impressed, to say nothing of the well-presented dice, board games, and books. We’ve only been to this location once in the week since they’ve opened, and we only lingered for fifteen minutes or so, yet I’m confident I could draw you a map to any specific product you’re looking for in the store. It’s a fantastic space! No clutter, no confusion, with sensible presentation. After one visit, any customer could go in, walk right to what they’re after, and head out with no tedious searching whatsoever. If you do, though, you’re missing out on some great company!
The moment my wife and I walked through the door, we were greeted by friendly, jocular, and observant workers. Eager both to point us in the right direction for our first visit and to joke around with us while we were perusing dice and cards up front, I think it’s safe to bet that the number one draw of this new location will be its staff. Every customer got personal attention from these welcoming individuals, and their friendliness never wavered, nor did their enthusiasm for the items they sell and services they offer.
Whether you’re searching for a gift, a new game to play, a new group of friends to play it with — or you just want to step out of the cold, check out some great games, and hang out with fun people for a few minutes — this is definitely the game store for you. We will...
Read moreTerrible place to do business. Sold them my whole lot of magic the gathering cards, and they said they would give me 50% of retail value for the cards. I knew the exact value of my cards, and they offered me maybe 25% of the value, this is the third game store in a row to do this so I didn't really have a choice but to sell them at this point. When I asked how they came up with that price I found they graded all my cards at a much lower condition then they actually were. When I went to pick up the check they already had my cards for sale in the case, at a price much much higher then they offered. They gave me $35 for a $120 card that they said was in rough shape so it is only worth $70. While writing me the check, I saw this card for sale in the...
Read moreIf all you are looking for is a store to pick up some games/models/paint with friendly staff this is a good place. However if you want to join a community of people that have the same hobbies as you, steer clear of this place, I was trying to learn how to play Warhammer 40k I expressed I haven't really played before and would like to learn, the guy that said he would play with me, just took a team of guys he knew I stood no chance of beating and didn't even care about playing the game properly he just wanted to kill my team of guys, he knew from the start I didn't stand a chance and didn't care, the community of people there arent very welcoming to strangers it feels, don't recommend at all if you have any interest in playing games find...
