I guess you have already heard the one about...."a snapshot in time" but that doesn't explain what you "experience" there. It's not just old stuff. The things there still have a life that reflects their owner's spirits which are still alive. Their personal stories are vibrant and compelling! Each item's past story reflects their hardships, sacrifices in life, joys, tears, hopes, dreams and disappointments. It is their story that brings those spirits back to life if you have the courage to be intrigued and the inquisitiveness to want to know whose life's spirit is knocking on your conscience. Yes, we have it great now compared to them who came before us. They set a bar of understanding that we are struggling to meet in a present world's standard. We need strength from it that can only come from understanding where we came from, our past and what hardships were overcome. This museum is a power shot of adrenaline in the arm of understanding. I apologize to the two people , a very nice lady and extremely informative gentleman, who work there for not remembering their names.
We learned so much of the history of the Virgin Valley.
The Lady, had so much information about the artifacts and history of the area. If you want explore the desert, this is the person to talk to. Ask her about trails and hikes in the desert.
The gentleman had grown up in Mesquite and was a wealth of information, telling us about many of the artifacts, the pictures, and many of the old buildings and had many stories to tell about all of these things.
This is the place to visit to learn about exploring the desert and the many other activities in and around Mesquite.

The teacher who sewed her own incredible wedding dress. And in 27 years of teaching only missed 3 days 1)her wedding day 2&3) the birth of her childern! There are hand carved wooden chains made from a single broom handle. All the links are solid wood. No breaks. The locked cabinet where the nurse kept the medicines. And the quilt made to commemorate another teacher lifetime of service. With the names of her students from 1925-1966. And after that she still volunteered until 1977.
