Chicago Greek is not kid friendly. At. All. Don't let owners response fool you!
Today I took my two year old son with me for lunch. He was playing with a booster seat on the floor, climbing up and down the chairs and investigating their 2ft Christmas tree. Normal two year old behavior. The owner stood at the back of the restaurant with her phone and glared at me as she pointed her phone towards us. It appeared as though she was either recording or taking pictures of us which was extremely uncomfortable. A few minutes later the owner came rushing towards me exclaiming "would you watch your child! He's breaking my ornaments!" I quickly grabbed the ornaments my son had in his hands and examined them. None had been "broken" he had only pulled the metel clip out which can be reattached. Pleaee keep in mind how fast two year old hands are! He had them before I could get to him. The owner was clearly just waiting for an opportunity to jump my case. She had a call in order during this and looked at me and said "great you made me mess up my phone order" Wow. I set the ornaments down on the counter and said "you could have asked nicely" She then went on to tell me how HER grandchildren didn't misbehave and how we needed to leave her establishment and not come back. This whole encounter was just so bizarre! I know this is a retirement town but to those who have children I'd recommend avoiding...
Read moreWe seen reviews that this is the place to try. So we decided to travel to enjoy some Greek food. The customer service was genuinely incredible, we felt welcomed. We were the only two at first but later (half way in our order being cooked) a big group came in. We ordered the "flaming cheese", if you have never had it look it up on YouTube. It's basically a slab (not sure how many ounces) of kasseri cheese coated lightly in flour, fried in olive oil, then once melted nicely a small amount of brandy is poured onto it, they light it on fire and it's tradition to say, "opa" (which we were newbies and didn't say it...ugh) then a bit of lemon squeezed on top. It was served with pita bread. VERY tasty appetizer. The owner was there during that experience as well very lovely woman. My husband and I shared their gyro which my husband is not usually a huge fan of the tzatziki sauce on his gyros, but at this location he absolutely enjoyed the sauce!! Thank you for a great experience, warm and welcoming restaurant and delish mouth...

American food offerings on the menu may seem obligatory, but are actually treated seriously, with Chicago Greek offering one of the best burgers in town. They also make Greek style french fries which are an excellent alternative to traditional french fries, and are worth the cost.
Chicago Greek is a popular offering in town, and was busy before the pandemic. I expect it will become increasingly busy as lockdowns come to an end. Take out offerings are available for the menu.
Chicago Greek uses the pay in advance meal model common to the fast food industry, but does provide table service for orders, with occasional check...
