As a former associate at the esteemed Equinox Brickell Heights location, I'll provide valuable insights for potential members and clients interested in joining this highly elite and fine gym. I'll try to be as objective as possible:
Pros:
As the only EQX location in SoFlo with a rooftop pool, Equinox Brickell Heights offers a unique and exclusive experience. You'll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Brickell skyline, a privilege reserved for our members.
The Yoga studio at Equinox Brickell Heights is not just the largest of all the Equinox locations but also a spacious and serene space. Whether you're into Vinyasa or something more relaxing like Yin, this is the spot to join for a comfortable and calming practice.
Fantastic Group Fitness classes. I don't have to name-drop the top-tier instructors who work here, but I can't praise the group fitness instructors enough. When it comes to hiring and running incredible classes, Dom is the best.
You may wonder why, despite the numerous positives, I rated Equinox Brickell Heights with a one-star review.
Cons:
The gym's marketing is highly sexualized, which is a more widespread and systemic issue with Equinox's branding and image. Members come here to work out, not to be uncomfortable or distracted by overly sexualized advertisements found at Brickell Heights.
There is a concerning lack of professional boundaries at the gym. As a former associate and member, I was aware of several Personal Trainers who crossed the line between their professional relationship with members and clientele into something more intimate. One of them even started an OFs account, but their employment ended shortly after. This type of behavior is unacceptable at a gym that charges over 1K for a pack of training sessions. Another personal trainer made it a point to make my short time as a member and associate at Equinox Brickell Heights extremely uncomfortable, if not a lost cause, to say the least. Without naming him, and according to Reddit, he is a Jack Harlow lookalike.
Horrible and unprofessional behavior by the rude AGM - Anais Gornail. Other reviews have name-dropped her before. It baffles me how frequently Equinox replaces GMs and AGMs. While I have not had the pleasure of meeting the current GM, Ralena Phillips, I can assure members that any interaction with Anais will either leave you extremely frustrated, desperate to cancel your membership, or result in being blocked on Instagram should you reach out to her there.
Theft - What I find most ironic is members who pay $220-250+ for the gym stealing food items from the Juice Bar. Last June, Equinox terminated over half of its desk staff due to theft. Yet, no members are held accountable for equally petty behavior. The random month-to-month price increases are bad enough as it is. Letting members, but not staff, get away with theft reeks of hypocrisy.
Perhaps worst of all are the illicit activities that occur in the Men's Steam Room. I won't discuss this any further, but action should be taken sooner rather than later. The same goes for the Spa Rooms during closing hours - it becomes quite the spot to meet singles.
Despite these challenges, I hope Equinox BH will make the necessary changes to ensure a better quality experience for both members and staff alike. As the flagship location in Miami, Brickell Heights offers top-notch group fitness instructors and amenities. With the proper adjustments, it can truly reach its full potential as the premier fitness...
Read moreI went to Equinox Brickle Heights Spa for the first time. Eric (Erih) is the best!! I booked a 110 minute massage (body work) with Eric on 12/26/24. Words are not enough !! How Amazing Eric is !!! He is professional, through, and kind!! He cares about each and every person that is on his massage table. He is soo amazing that I followed him to Equinox!! He has been my Massage Therapist for Two Years!! He knows how to work his way down into the deep layers of muscle!! He is amazing with the massage gun enhancement!! He does everything from light massage to deep tissue massage! I usually get a deep tissue massage to help me with my chronic pains. He incorporates different methods and modalities like trigger point, rocking, palpations, ect. To help your muscles relax and work out stubborn knots! He helps sore painfull muscles feel better and recover, from working out or just life happening . He helps the pain melt away. He uses Hot Towels. His knowledge and Skills are used to help you feel better!! By the time he is done, there is no more pain! He incorporates stretching. He listens intently to what you need and where you need it. From tight sore muscles from working out or to old injuries like my bad shoulder, back issues, to my sciatica down my left leg!! He is the reason I stopped taking pain medicine 2 Years ago!! No lies!! I was in a lot of pain when I found him!!!. He became my massage therapist.!! He truly is the best!! His knowledge, skills and kindness goes above and beyond. He gives you his all from start to finish. If you want to talk he will listen and speak with you. If you want a silent massage then he is quiet. He also checks in on you to see if the pressure is ok!! At anytime let him know if you want more or less pressure. 110 minute massage feels like 20 minutes to me. In the end I am feeling like I am floating on a cloud. Equinox has found a precious and rare gem!! Eric is fabulous and genuine! They are lucky to have him!! Eric is the best!! Hands down!! No one quite like him!!! Last April, my neck locked down with shooting acute pain!! I could not move it an inch. I went to Eric!! After the massage with stretching, my range of motion was restored and pain went down to just sore!! Because of Eric, with 2 extra follow up massages later, I was totally fine. I never missed a day of work because of him!!! See for yourself what I mean!! Book your massage (body work) with Eric (Erih)!!! Go See for yourself!!! Club membership is not required to use the spa services like receiving a massage. 20% gratuity is added to your bill at the end automatically. But I still tip in cash what I feel is appropriate in addition to that, but that's just me. Make sure you drink plenty of water and pee before the massage and after it is over. Thank you for everything you do Eric!! See you next time Eric (Erih)!!! Sincerely Erin full...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience with Anaïs Gornail at Equinox Brickell Heights. Not only was she rude and unprofessional, but she also mishandled my membership cancellation request, causing unnecessary frustration and delays.
I followed the correct procedure to cancel my membership and was given written confirmation that my cancellation would take effect as early as February 1, 2025. However, despite my multiple requests and clear communication, I was later informed that my membership would remain active until March 1, 2025—contradicting what I was originally told.
When I tried to resolve this issue, Anaïs was dismissive, condescending, and unhelpful. Instead of assisting me, she demanded proof of cancellation—which, of course, I did not have because Equinox failed to process my request properly in the first place.
This level of incompetence and lack of customer service is unacceptable, especially at a luxury gym that prides itself on excellence. I strongly urge Equinox management to train their staff better and hold them accountable for honoring their commitments to members.
If you’re considering this location, be cautious when dealing with membership matters, as their process is disorganized and certain staff members are not equipped to handle issues...
