Okay so I have worked in Luxury Hotels & Restaurants for 20 plus years in Miami, I moved to the west coast and came this weekend for the Gaga concert. I was excited to come here as I have seen a-lot about this place online. So here is my truthfully opinion on what I thought this place would be and what it was. First, when you state online and on the phone about a dress code I figured I would have been with others that fit the dress code for brunch, that was NOT the case. The party I was with were all dressed up however, during the brunch I witnessed people wearing shorts, sneakers, tank tops, jeans etc. To be honest there was even one lady who was wearing daisy dukes (ass hanging out) and a leopard sport bar sitting at the bar. However, there were other parties that were dressed to code but if you have a dress code that means everyone should abide to that code. Secondly, I figured the food would match the decor, I was totally wrong. The selection on food is by far subpar, the sushi selection was basic to say the least. When you go to a Sushi place they always have a roll they're known for, the rolls here were (California Roll, Spicy Tuna roll & Salmon Rolls etc but nothing special) all of which I could get at Publix. The Japanese Grill area was basic nothing that was creative or special (as you can tell from the picture). I ordered the Steak as my entree and it was beyond fatty not anything I would think for the price or place. Next time I want a good steak I'll go to Ruth Chris or Flemmings. I ordered the Unlimited Champagne for the additional price however, every time I asked for a refill the gentlemen (who I believe may have been the Sommelier) would have a talk to the person who would pour for me ( I noticed him address three different people who had just poured me another glass). I understand Sommelier's don't like to keep pouring a glass as it hits their liquor cost however, if something is unlimited for a certain time frame you must respect that as long as the person drinking isn't drunk or acting a fool (I can handle my drinking) so by the third glass I noticed he would get flustered if I asked for another glass (I had a total of 5 glasses) not a big deal for a person 6'1 215 lbs. plus eating while drinking. The dessert station was okay as seen nothing over the top. I will say this place for food is mediocre I have been to way better places for food. This place is for show, it is for the people who want cool pictures however, thats all it was for me was a cool atmosphere. I was disappointed with the food choices and service to be honest. I was with a friend who asked for a straw to three different people before getting one. I expected more from Sexy Fish and it feel short. I will most likely not waste my time or money here as it was nothing unique about this place except for the decor. I was born and raised in Miami and let me tell you there are way better places to dine that would meet the decor and food and a luxury level and Sexy...

Read moreWe dined at Sexy Fish on Saturday, April 26th to celebrate my husband’s birthday, expecting an elevated fine dining experience. What we received instead was subpar service, an uncomfortable seating arrangement, and a disastrous aftermath that ruined our weekend and impacted our health.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. The host sat us at a cramped corner table directly in the path of bar guests people were constantly bumping into our chairs and brushing our arms. When we politely asked to move, we were curtly told, “The restaurant is full.” Minutes later, a better table nearby cleared and remained empty for over an hour. When we inquired about it, we were again dismissed and told it was reserved, despite our confirmed reservation as well.
The service throughout the evening was disjointed and lacked the standard one would expect from a venue claiming to offer a fine dining tasting menu. There was no introduction or explanation of the 12-course menu, something we’ve experienced consistently at other reputable fine dining establishments. Meanwhile, other guests wore flip flops and the atmosphere felt more like a trendy lounge than a refined restaurant.
However, the worst part of the night unfolded after we left. My husband, who has severe pork allergies, began experiencing intense itching and discomfort shortly after we returned to our hotel. Our evening plans were canceled as we managed what we assumed was a mild allergic reaction. Soon after, I developed severe diarrhea, chills, and vomiting that lasted into Monday evening. My husband also experienced similar symptoms overnight. By the next day, I had a rash and painful, swollen bumps all over my face, scalp, arms, back everywhere.
I attempted to call the restaurant multiple times to inform them, but no one answered. I sent an email and finally received a call on Thursday morning. The caller simply told me, “I assure you nobody else has reported a similar reaction,” and promised to follow up later that day. It is now Monday we have spent thousands of dollars on emergency room visits, doctor consultations, and medications and no one from Sexy Fish has contacted us since.
The restaurant’s lack of accountability and complete indifference toward a serious potential food safety issue is unacceptable. The glamorous decor does not compensate for poor service, uncomfortable seating, or an experience that ends in illness and costly medical care.
Sexy Fish is all hype and no hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking genuine fine dining or...
