Oh, where do I even begin with my experience at Tacology? It was like a rollercoaster ride for my taste buds, and I'm not sure if I should be excited or terrified for what's to come! Let's dive right into this spicy adventure, shall we?
First off, the portions at Tacology were so small, they made me question whether I was in a restaurant or attending a gourmet dollhouse party. But hey, good things come in small packages, right? And boy, were they flavorful! Each bite was like a tiny explosion of taste in my mouth, leaving me both amazed and slightly disappointed that it was over so quickly. It's like they were playing a game of culinary hide-and-seek with my hunger.
Now, let's talk about the Diablo margarita. Oh, dear reader, if you have a weak spot for spicy drinks, beware! This devilish concoction had me sweating bullets and questioning my life choices. I truly feared for the well-being of my digestive system the next day. It was as if the Diablo margarita wanted to assert its dominance by setting my taste buds ablaze and laughing at my discomfort. Desperate for relief, I had to resort to a normal margarita to cool down the spicy inferno within me. Lesson learned: sometimes, it's better to stay away from the dark side of the cocktail menu.
But fear not, because Tacology didn't just rely on their food and drinks to entertain me. The lively atmosphere and blasting music had me feeling like I stumbled into a spontaneous dance party! I couldn't help but tap my foot to the beat as I savored my miniature culinary delights. It felt like the restaurant was trying to distract me from the fact that I was still hungry after my meal, and I must admit, it worked. Who needs a full stomach when you have pulsating tunes to keep you company?
All in all, Tacology was definitely an experience to remember. The small portions left me wanting more, the Diablo margarita left me fearing for my bathroom adventures, and the lively atmosphere had me grooving in my seat. If you're up for a culinary adventure filled with flavor and unexpected surprises, Tacology might just be the place for you. Just make sure to bring your dancing shoes and a bottle of antacid for...

Executive Chef Santiago Gomes (Cantina La Veinte, Nobu, and NYC's Michelin-starred Daniel) is currently celebrating the one-year anniversary of his saucy hot spot. And let me tell you, when it comes to Mexican food, la fiesta no termina en Tacology.
The larger than life space drew me in faster than a tequila shot on Cinco de Mayo, even on a Wednesday night. With its vibrant decor, upbeat jams, and alboroto vibe, I drank the Mexican Coquito and fell in love hard.
A smart tablet waited for me at the table. I methodically planned my attack, as I swiped left and right and tried to find the best combination from the different mercado-style stations. Can you please bring me a guacamole sampler while I decide what to order? What's that? I need to fire it myself off the app? Done! Less than five minutes later, I happily dipped my chips into the three varieties before me and perfected my order strategy. Síganme los buenos!
I would redo my dinner at Tacology, eyes closed, any day, any time. How colorful and gorgeous is this taco playground? And techy too? How can they possibly execute an authentic menu that doesn't feel Disneyfied? Well, they have successfully and subtly updated traditional Mexican recipes. The Shrimp Tacos (with a crisp quinoa exterior, avocado, and cilantro) arrived in a glass, dipped into a haunting agave-chipotle sauce and ready for enjoyment. And enjoy I did. Nothing like the experience of a "gotcha" first bite. That trend continued throughout the night and ended with two spectacular desserts.
Wait for it. This flan snob approves of the Caramel Flan. Que dijo? Si amigos. A group of mini flans arrived artfully plated and begged to be devoured. What topped that for me? If you know me well, you know the answer is GUAVA. The alluring Guava Cheesecake delivered on looks and, more importantly, taste. Aórale, Tacology. Muy bien....
Read moreWas super hungry, stranded here at the mall. I decided to get something to eat. The atmosphere is wonderful the waiter greeted me fairly quickly and was a bit hard for me understand. He was continously kind and courteous. He showed me how the menu worked and asked about a drink and appetizers. I asked for Iced tea, but all they had was canned with sugar. I opted for just water. He showed me his favorite taco and it looked good, so I ordered them. $15 for two tiny tacos seemed steep. But okay, let's do it. Within a few minutes the tacos we placed in front of me and I ate one, it was pretty basic but they gave me the wrong order. I tried to flag down my waiter and after 10 minutes of sitting there, asked another worker to please go get my guy. He was there fairly quickly after that. Remember, I am totally hungry at this point. He acknowledged that it was wrong and quickly removed it from my table. Within a few minutes, he had the correct tacos. They were good but soaked in grease. Totally soaked see picture. Then I find out that they already add an 18% service fee. I felt that was enough even though I usually tip between 25 and 30%. The waiter was eager to listen and improve his service. Great, young man. If the restaurant makes a mistake and brings you the wrong food, you should get to keep it. They toss it in the trash anyway. I had three tacos and I left still hungry. After I paid, I asked about the service charge and it gets split with the bar and others, not leaving much for him. I only had a small amount of cash and he wouldn't recharge my card. Lessons learned, make sure you check back right after the food is delivered. If it's your bad on the food, leave it there, it's advertising. If they don't like it, then take it away. Be upfront about the service charge. The young man, had a great attitude and wanted to get better. That is why, two stars...
