This is long but a very critical opinion from a skilled at home cook. I unfortunately did not have a very good experience. Our waiter was a bit unprofessional. Either new or just not great at the job. But i almot always tip 20% and did tonight. But, we didn't get a refill on water, which was our only drink. I decided to get an alcoholic drink, and when i made my drink order, I had food in my mouth and the server goes "just point to it". It wasn't aggressive but extremely unprofessional. We got poutine, rigatoni, and the short rib bolognese. The poutine was SO GOOD. Then we got to the bottom and realized the gravy was over salted. And we are some salt lovers. But it was too much. But that gravy.... That gravy is special... The depth of flavor is 10/10 for me, minus all the salt. But I got to enjoy plenty of it. The rigatoni wasn't all that bad but the pasta isn't boiled in salted water, or there's not enough salt in it, and none of the other individual ingredients had any salt so it was very bland. Just the sauce was salted. So it was kinda bad honestly. But I've had worse. And the chicken was very over cooked. But it was super thin, so no suprise there. Don't give the chef much to work with when it's that thin. Or use dark meat. I did mention it and the manager, who handled that situation perfectly, had it remade. But it wasn't much better. The chicken was slightly less dry but still had no flavor. It wasn't even high quality chicken that offers it's own distinct flavor. Just bland chicken. Literally tossed that baby in a pan and said bon a petit beotch. The second one was A little less overcooked, but still over cooked. The short rib had about 8 pieces of short rib that were the same size as the pork in pork lo mein. So like 2 inches long and about 1/4 in thick. I suppose that could have been expected eith a $24 price tag.. But if it were my menu, that would not be on there. Without the short rib it wasn't all that bad. Needed more sauce and again with the unsalted pasta water. The place it self is very nice and I see why it's popular. But if I'm being blunt, the success is coming from the atmosphere. It's a nice place. Really nice. But, If you stripped away all the fancy things, that food we got would not be enough in a place like miami. Overall, I wouldn't not recommend this place, but I also wouldn't recommend it. I would just be honest and say I didn't like it but it was busy and I did over hear 2 people say that they liked it. So maybe it's just not for a more defined palate, and more for your typical...

Now, let's talk about the beef nachos. I consider myself a bit of a nacho connoisseur, and I can confidently say that Moxie's 1lb. beef nachos are a true masterpiece. The combination of perfectly seasoned beef, melted cheese, fresh salsa, and creamy guacamole created a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate. The portion size was generous, making it ideal for sharing with friends or indulging in a satisfying solo feast. Each bite was an explosion of textures and aromas, leaving me craving for more.

Read moreThe bad: My wife and I ordered the Fresh Smashed Guacamole as an appetizer. The guacamole had too much lime. It came with an additional sledge of lime on the side but it already came out prepared with too much lime and it was very sour. The nachos are prepared with Tajin seasoning. Tajin seasoning by default is very salty. Overall, the plate was very salty and sour. It doesn't look like someone tasted it before coming out of the kitchen.
We also ordered 2 Steak Frites as the main course. Both steaks had the opposite problem of the guacamole in that they were not seasoned at all. The steaks did not tasted good at all. They needed a bit more seasoning or to be marinated before cooking. It was just very bland. The chimichurri sauce that came on the steak was very salty too.
Also, the music was a bit too loud but nothing that will impede you from talking over it.
The good: Despite the sour and salty flavor of the guacamole, the consistenty was very good. The avocadoes were smashed consistently into a creamy paste and it did not have any large chunks. The other ingredients were also good and looked fresh. The presentation of the plate was very good as well.
For the 2 Steak Frites, my wife ordered hers "well done" and I ordered mine "medium". Surprisingly, the cooking terms were spot on. My wife's steak was not overcooked and it was still juicy. Mine was perfectly medium. It is hard to find restaurants that nail the cooking terms. The fries that accompanied the steaks were not too salty or greasy. They were cooked fine.
The service was very good too. We did not have to wait a long time to find a table inside and were given the options to either sit inside or outside. Alyssa L. was our server and she was incredibly attentive. She checked up on us a few times and I noticed she was checking up with other tables multiple times as well. She also explained the menu to us. The men's restroom...
