Found this place via Miami Culinary Food Tours, and it became my and my husband's favorite hangout during our vacation to Miami Beach. Beats any pricey commercial juice bar or chain, and the family will custom-blend you amazing combinations that will have you scratching your head at how they came up with something so delicious - and why no one else has done it. They also do milkshakes!
We would get a juice, and hang out with the locals who'd stop by to chat with the owners, and just enjoy the breeze in the open-air shop watching the world go by... One day, the owner's grandaughter came by with her son, and we helped entertain the toddler while his great-grandmother fed him... everyone was just so lovely, and friendly and social. Sure, we love the beach, but if you're a traveler (vs. tourist), this is a great place to experience something totally unique and wonderful.
BTW, if you've never had sugarcane juice, this is the best I've had in the US; if you've had it elsewhere in the US, you need to have it here.... citrusy and clean, with 1/4 of the sugar of soda (and totally unrefined sugar - much healthier!). Here, you can find tropical fruit treasures: Iām partial to mangoes and tender coconut myself, both of which I indulged in copious amounts. But the highlight of the trip undoubtedly was the sugarcane juice. Abuela has been cranking out high quality SC juice since you were a bebe, and she will oblige if you ask her to skip the ice. So good, I had to have it twice, once on my way in and then again on my way out of Little Havana. Pay this sweet old grandma a visit and chill with a guarapo in the back patio to get away from the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA very old-school shop in the heart of Little Havana with an abundant fruit selection. Juices are made to order with shaved ice. I got the mamey juice which was excellent. They didn't have a full printed menu up, so I had to walk inside and see what fruits were available in the cases. The family that runs it is really nice.
$5 cash only for 16oz cup, cheaper than most restaurants. Definitely helps to know a little Spanish. It wasn't busy on the Monday that I visited, so plenty of room to sit down in the back patio area. I imagine they are busier...
