I don't think I've ever met a service provider as rude as this one. I don't think that I can fully express how bad this experience was.
I have wavy hair, and have learned that not all salons (including this one) understand that wavy hair and curly hair have different needs. I confirmed with them (twice!) that they were comfortable with styling 2a hair.
My hair was pretty tangled when I walked in, from old product etc. First she tried to dry-brush it until I yelped bc I was afraid that she was going to pull all my hair out. At least apply some detangler, my god!
If you read anything about styling wavy hair you'll know that you need a lot of water in your hair to apply and distribute the product. Per the woman who does my hair the best, you should hear a squelching sound when you scrunch it.
I should have known that it was over when she towel dried it. If it gets to be too dry in this part of the process it will look stringy and terrible. I know from many iterations of doing this myself and bad salons.
I tried to tell her that. She said it was wet enough. I tried several different ways of trying to communicate and self advocate. I showed her pictures of when it was done correctly vs when it was done incorrectly. She didn't care. I had told her in the beginning that I was there for a style because we were taking photos for work (!!!) and I wanted to make sure it looked good. Rather than listening, she kept asking me "so is it perfect every time you do it?" She asked me this at least three times. She was basically trying to make the point of "you don't do it perfectly so shut up and stop telling me what to do".
Finally she was like "do you want me to spritz it" but I knew from how combative she was that it was pointless. She'd spray it like twice and claim she followed my request.
I got so frustrated with trying to explain to her that I knew it was going to work (my head was a pile of wet frizz at this point), and with her pretty rudely rebuffing me every time I tried to give instruction that I actually started to cry. I realized then that it was irredeemable, and I would be better off getting to my hotel early and having a chance to redo it myself.
I walked out and her parting shot was "seems like something personal is going on" because I had tears in my eyes.
This woman shouldn't do any work...
Read moreI had placed a 5 star review in this place when I went back in April for a haircut, but after what just happened, it deserves a 1, as the person who I worked with is no longer there.
I had an appointment for Sunday at 11:30AM for a color correction and Gia, the owner, called me Saturday at 7PM cancelling it because the images you are forced to submit did not download for them to review. Mind you, I submitted the form the day they sent it to me which was Wednesday, so they had 3 full days to call me to let me know they could not download my files. So please note - if they can't download your files, the appointment will be cancelled at an insane time the day before. Her excuse was that it was such a busy day and she couldn't call earlier, but now I am left without an appointment before the holidays.
In the voice note they left me, they said to call them back, which I did immediately but straight to voicemail and the voicemail they left said Alexis could not accommodate me nor anyone at the salon so to find another time. Mind you, I work full time and can't book any hour during the day, which is why I booked this appointment 3 weeks ago with Alexis.
I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. The fact that I was called the night before my appointment and simply telling me they couldnt help me because they had no idea what my hair looked like when I clearly wrote a description of what was going on and I sent a voicemail stating I'd be happy to email something asap. This was probably one of the most unprofessional things I have witnessed and will never book with...
