The AMC theaters in Michigan City are a place I enjoy going to. I'm a member of their points club, which after a while you get something free so I like that. They offer a lot of things to eat, the prices for the food are, as one might expect, higher than normal but that's how they make their money. The theaters are comfortable. For some reason the volume was too low on the movie that I was watching, I went and talk to the manager mentioned the volume issue and it was taken care of within 60 seconds. The person I came with commented how the volume was low and then it got better. I said didn't you notice that I left and came back? They didn't have the normal ticket booth open you had to go to the concession stand for tickets. They had a series of ropes to control the crowd that you had to walk through to get to the concession stand. However there was no crowd, so it was ridiculous to have this rope maze to walk through. I was late for the movie because I had to get someone's attention to be able to buy a ticket. The other person in my group went over to the two managers who were chit-chatting and suggested that one of them could sell us a ticket so that we could get in. I realize that working at a movie theater may not be the most exciting job in the world, but that is what you're there for, to take care of the handful of customers. Without us you wouldn't be there. There were four people watching my movie. While the staff was pleasant, I don't want to overly complain about them. Just comment that paying attention to the customers would be one improvement. Another improvement would be to clarify how to buy a ticket to get in. Also none of the movie theaters had the names of the movies lit up. And this AMC has 19 movie theaters. Fortunately they told me I was in theater number 6. And I was able to see number 6 on the dark sign to be able to find my movie theater. Again seems ridiculous to not put the name of the movie on the theater on the electric sign that was put in the ceiling to tell the customer where to go. Happily, bathrooms are clean. The prices to the movie are reasonable. So keep going to the movies. Otherwise these places will close too. I make these comments not because it impacted my movie going experience, I loved the film. But the customer service of a place like this should be better, covid aside, welcome your customers! That's part of the movie...

Extremely dirty and poorly maintained facility. I would be embarrassed to work at a place like that let alone the utter humiliation I would feel if someone found out I was the manager of such a place. The outrageous price of the concessions, $7 for a "regular" drink, ought to cover at the very least keeping the place clean.
To start with, there wasnt a clean surface anywhere near the concession counter, garbage and old popcorn littered every counter. The Coke freestyle machine is nice but was out of every flavor, I couldn't even get a peach tea. We proceeded across the sticky lobby floor to the theater, and selected some seats, which all had stains on them, and sat down only for my daughter to get stabbed by a spring that was sticking out of the fabric of her chair, and had to move. The movie was fine, but the audio in an adjacent theater was so loud that sometimes I couldn't hear our own movie. After the movie I went to the restroom where I found wads of toilet paper stuck to the floor and walls. The latch on the first stall I attempted to use was broken, and the seat in the second stall was broken. The third stall was so dirty I couldn't even consider using it. One of the stall dividers was hanging from the wall.
This was a horrible experience, I would have had a better time watching a pirated version of this movie at home. I will not be returning to...
Read moreI honestly don't know how this place has this much of a good number for reviews. This place is so sad now. We live in LaPorte and my bf and I love our days off together to go see movies. This place used to be so much nicer..cleaner, people weren't blantenly on their phones. It used to have the LED marquees above the doors. They haven't had those on in a year or two? They no longer have candy under the shelves. They are empty besides two sweet popcorns. They are obviously overpriced... But that's always been that way with the movies.. We usually get a large popcorn, drink, and a reeses and it's over 30 dollars. I always wear a hoodie because the seats just feel dirty oily... How is this place still open?!
GOTO EMAGINE THEATER IN PORTAGE! Clean, you choose the seat to sit in that is heated or cooled, food is better and brought to you with a stand to eat at that attaches to the cup holder. Clean. It has a booze bar, a nice lobby where a piano plays.
The bathrooms are horrible!! Took me three times to find a stall that had toilet paper or that wasn't clogged. The mirrors are smudgy oily looking. It smelled like urine. We'd probably join the rewards club but I feel like we need to goto Valpo or somewhere else and make a day of it to be in a better environment. The employees are nice but will be on their phones.
Close it down. Level it....
