I've been very disappointed with a KUDS35FXBL KitchenAid dishwasher I bought from Gene's and the concomitant "service" the store has provided. The dishwasher immediately started overflowing upon installation, leaving a soapy mess on the kitchen floor. The service man came to our house to make suggestions as to how to remedy this: use a different detergent, use less detergent, pour cold water into the dishwasher to break up the suds. Ultimately, however, the problem remains, and the dishwasher overflows every two weeks or so. Calls to Gene's have been useless as we're just told to try the same ineffective procedures. The service man will not come to our house.
I'm virtually certain that the dishwasher and its new hoses weren't installed correctly. I anticipate having a plumber look at the setup because it's ridiculous that a brand new dishwasher should have such problems.
It goes without saying that I'll never shop at Gene's again.
An update: Got KitchenAid service man to take a look at dishwasher. He instantly perceived that the rinse aid dispenser was leaking and replaced it. Gene's "service" staff never recognized this easy fix, instead telling us to use less detergent, etc.

Read moreI purchased every appliance in my home from Gene’s. For the second time in 6 months, I contacted them for service and received the same result. The first time was for a refrigerator that was down and got a run around about when someone could get out to look at it. Left a message asking to be contacted and never heard back. We had to find another company to service it who promptly came out the same day. We called again for service on another appliance, left a message, and once again no call back. Upon our calling again, we were told the repairman was out and probably didn’t get the message. Asked when we’d be contacted and were told maybe “Monday” when he returns. You try to support the local “non big box retailer” but this is the thanks you get. The after the sale service from Gene’s sucks. Will definitely not buy from them...
Read moreGene's TV and Appliance Repair in Middletown took my call, answered my questions, scheduled me for speedy service at a fair price and then Gene asked me, "Hey are you mechanically handy?" I replied that I have experience with woodworking, metalworking and electronics but not much knowledge of appliance repair. Gene then asked if I had a socket set and he guided me through the repair himself for free!!! The washer was working within 15 minutes.
If you are in the Middletown, CT area, HIRE THIS MAN. I wish that I had known about him earlier. This business is a state treasure!
For years I had been stuck with a warranty from S K Lavery and they were just the worst. Slow, rude, unprofessional service was the norm. We went months without a working washer because of their horrible service. Gene...
