I hate to give such a low score to a great place because of a few employees, but when they lie to your face, it's hard not to. This store is clean, the staff is generally friendly and their prices are fair. My issue is that I went to the deli tonight at 830 after work. I stood there for 5 mins. No one helped me. I finally asked someone if the deli was still open bc all of the lights were on. They said, "yea, I think so. Let me double check." He then went into the back and asked the person from the deli. I heard a woman yelling, "no, no, no, it's closed!" So he came back out and told me what I already heard. So, I asked, "well, for future reference, so this doesn't happen again, what time does the deli close?" He paused. Then, looking like a deer in headlights he said, "uuuuhhhhhhhh.... (looks at clock and sees it's 840pm) uhhhh... 8pm." I said thank you and walked away despite the fact that I knew he just lied. I went to 2 other departments (one of which being guest services), and asked employees that knew nothing of this encounter. They both said that the deli closes at 9pm. I'm really glad I hurried down here to get to the deli to get meat for my lunch tomorrow. They had some pre-sliced stuff packaged near by. It was not exactly what I wanted, but good enough, I guess. There are 3 reasons why this is a horrible thing for employees to do: They lost money. The freshly sliced stuff I wanted would have cost 3 times as much They almost lost a customer because I will go elsewhere if the deli closes at 8 because I can't be here that early They may have lost a customer bc they no longer trust...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate September 13, 2023: I can only hope that this location will be one that Kroger/Albertsons decides to close. It will surely put most of the most inconsiderate, poorly trained, and self absorbed employees out of work. This evening as I was pulling in to park, the young brunette girl who was trying to corral 20+ shopping carts struck my car. No apology, nothing. This store is the absolute worst grocery store in the city. Please close.
This Market Street is the closest grocery store to my home. I was spoiled having lived in Lubbock for many years and experiencing what the original United Supermarkets were like. I recently stopped in the store on Midkiff in Midland. I must apologize for interrupting the conversation of the checker and his sacker buddy. This conversation was quite colorful and had my wife or daughter had been there to listen, I would have been removed from the store. The employees at this location despise their customers. We are simply taking up their time. They have perfected the "I don't care" attitude. From now on, I will drive the extra couple of miles to visit another grocer in town. Market Street when you sold to Albertson it was bad. Now with the sale to Kroger, it has gotten...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually love shopping at Market Street. I live closer to an HEB but still prefer going to market street. I often use the street side option as it works best with my work schedule and kids schedule. Today I did my usual order at 3 pm for pickup at 6 pm. At 530 I was on my way to the store and happened to check my email because I hadnāt gotten any texts about my order as I usually do. As Iām pulling up to the store I notice I had an email from 415 stating my order was cancelled. No explanation. I call the store and get transferred to street side to see why my order was cancelled and all the guy can tell me is they were too busy so they were told by management to cancel my order. I explained how frustrating it was that my order was cancelled but what made it even worse was nobody calling to inform me. If I would have known it was canceled I would have made different plans for dinner and planned a grocery store trip before having to get my kids from school. The lack of communication and lack of empathy is so...
